Pat basically says nothing substantially different to what she has said in many of her past parole hearings.
What was essentially different in the hearing was.....the panellists.
I wonder how she took the news about Bruce. Gotta be demoralizing.

We should totally continue to make the elderly pay even after their aged minds betray them. Keeping them incarcerated makes a ton of sense and also like if you do something wrong, f--k you, it's revenge American style until the coroner's men wheel you out on a gurney, caballero/caballera.
Just read the transcript and have to agree with Grimtraveller. My comprehension of the panellists questions and statements is that they wanted to find evidence to grant parole.
I've only read this transcript once when it first was posted, and I was a bit startled at how bland and almost routine it was. Sebring's nephew was the most memorably-spoken participant in these proceedings, it seemed to me. And then something dawned on me . . .
Krenwinkel did something this time around that she has failed to do in all of these decades' worth of hearings: she declined to speak of the crimes themselves.
This, I think, was key to her having been given the nod. In her last hearing five years ago, she failed to remember key facts surrounding her participation in TLB, and this failure to acknowledge the level of her active participation was cited in their denial at the time.
This time around, the crime details were omitted completely and the focus was on the influences that led her to participate in these murderous events and on her efforts in the decades since to better herself. On the one hand, I agree with David Lane above - the two-person "board" was inclined to rid the state of California of the expense and labor associated with this old murderer and they were probably looking for reasons to spring her, at least technically & on paper.
On the other hand, this result makes me even more eager to read the Bruce Davis transcript when it is released in a few weeks. That former Mansonite murderer went from receiving several consecutive parole nods to being denied for a full three years. That is quite the slide, and one wonders how this result came about. No doubt he was sitting before two very different and perhaps more harsh board members, but it IS quite curious.
The Guv will no doubt deny Krenny her freedom, but I feel like this result must have felt like quite an achievement to her. I don't think anyone saw this coming, probably not even Patricia herself.
P.S. I would be willing to become a (pretend) stabby fool to gain an insider view on the Van Houten/Krenwinkel relationship continuum. Did Leslie run across Krenny on a prison campus path and congratulate her on the parole nod achievement? Has Krenwinkel looked across the therapy room in envy at elderly Van Houten, who has long sat upon the prom queen throne of paroleworthiness? Who has the hairier chin these days - old lady Van Houten or the sagging Big Patty? Someone in there needs to write a damned book, dammit!

murderers have been let out having done half the time Krenwinkel has, you can't rate a murder on a scale of 1 to 10 in the brutality of it, a murder is a murder so let her out, she's completely rehabilitated and is genuinely the most remorseful of the lot, she hasn't hid behind God and has been completely honest with every parole meeting as far as her memory has let her
