I work with kids. Have done so since 1983. I've seen loads of them at many stages of development. Some are the same from babyhood. Some get more confident, some less. Point is, there is such a massive scope of change that any human being can go through. That Charlie may have been a wimp with his own age mates for 32 years, in no way discounts what he would have been with those 10 years and more, younger, many in or just out of their teens, all, countercultural, so looking to fight back against their upbringings and all, willing to expand their minds with various drugs ~ not to mention the kind of respect they would have accorded a pretty charismatic guy that had spent much of his life in jail. The only time anyone followed Tex was when Charlie told them to. He wasn't remotely in the same class, savvy-wise, charisma-wise or power-wise.

Disagree. They were creating great new music right up until Jerbear’s passing. So many great tunes that never made it to the studio.

Once I was watching acoustic Hot Tuna at Sweetwater when Weir and Sammy Hagar came in to enjoy the show.
Another time I was at Terrapin Station (RIP) seeing Kiefer Sutherland with his band in the bar. Both Lesh and Hagar were there to see that one too.

Tex was an honor student, captain of the football team, editor of the school paper,
