I don't think that the vest is around anymore. I don't know where I read it now but Lynette got the vest to Charlie in prison and he destroyed it and she was devastated. Not sure how reliable this is since I can't remember where I read it. Anyone else out there remember this story?
Matthew, What Peter said is the story I heard. If a piece or two doesn't turn up now, while interest and probably the market is, high I'll tend to believe it's been destroyed too.
DebS, thanks for that auction link. Really interesting stuff. I read through it all last night and the one item that's stuck with me is Pat's letter to Nuel Emmons from 1981. She wrote, "As you spoke to in your letter, I have remained silent." Right away, I took that as code, but that could be my imagination getting the best of me. It made me sad that she wrote, "I too have my own voice." Like she was staking her claim, which of course is good, but it felt forced, like a shaky claim. And finally, "My relationship with Charlie was multifacted due to who I was then and what developed through time. The most important piece of that relationship was friendship and that will endure indefinitely..."
The whole letter just seemed to walk a fine line. Who she is supposed to be and who she really is. I have a strange affinity for Pat. I want the best for her, and I'm very angry with her.

Uh-oh -- the Mattster is on a Wunderpussy binge now. ;-)

If parts of Charlie's vest are going to come up for auction, now would be a good time.

He supposedly cut it up and gave away the pieces so as not to get shanked for it. So possibly some pieces still around.

The vest story is on Taming the Beast
Sorry "in" not "on"
NY Times piece on Harron's "Charlie Says"
https://www.nytimes.com/2019/11/19/movies/charlie-says-mary-harron.html
Sandy confirmed the vest story to me. She doesn't recall where the hair collar went, however.
Panamint Patty,
Which ending did Sandy confirm, that the vest was cut up and given to other inmates or that it was destroyed?
It was cut up and distributed.
But it's a good point that you make...why haven't any pieces turned up on supernaught or some other auction site? Patty has no idea.
I think maybe it's all covered here already. Maybe also read between the lines.

Thanks Patty.

If you want to see what all the Manson lots went for, it's here-
https://www.alexautographs.com/Category/Notables___the_Notorious-18.html
The prices include the buyers premium of 25%.
The Manson stuff starts about halfway down the page and continues on the next page.
A couple of things didn't sell and a few of the prices surprised me. It looks like it was Nuel Emmons family who sold the stuff.
Does Wonder Hussy have a website? A very informative video.
She's on YouTube -- search Wonderhussy Adventures -- numerous playlists.
I like how Wonderhussy has an undercurrent of sarcasm in her dialogue like "These cats were totally wack".

I think quite a few people feel that way when it comes to Pat.
