Many of you who have been around here for a while know Trilby (real name Kathleen). Over the years she's been a great contributor. Much of it behind the scenes.
Kat is one of our own. I know her and I can vouch accuracy. She has been ill for about three years now and has burned through all of her savings paying medical expenses. 401k completely gone. Without immediate help she will be homeless.
I PERSONALLY AM ASKING ALL WHO CAN TO CONTRIBUTE. There is a GoFundMe page. Time is of the essence. This can't wait.
I'm asking all to please help. Time is very important and no contribution is too small. I'm asking all of you personally.
ReplyDeleteJust donated....I know from personal experience how costly medical expenses can be. I hope Kat makes a full recovery!!
ReplyDeleteDonated- Hope it helps:)
ReplyDeleteThanks to those who have contributed so far. There may not be another post until the goal is hit.
ReplyDeleteDone. I wish her the best, and I thank her for all her posts.
ReplyDeleteI'm just sorting out my own father's Acute Care Neurology needs myself. He recently had 3 strokes in one day and, is needing 24/7 Critical Care.
ReplyDeleteI hope to be able to help in some (probably smaller) way once we've figured things out here.
Thank you Matt for creating the gofundme page - and, to all who have/will contribute
Positive thoughts and energies to Kathleen!
My 20 year old son is in a similar situation. He’s had dozens of strokes and is currently disabled after an undiagnosed bout of meningitis. He spent 10 days at Duke and am waiting for all of the bills to start rolling in... not to mention the OT/PT for however long it takes for him to regain his faculties.

ReplyDeleteHope things better soon Trilby!
ReplyDelete@AstroCreep - I can't even begin to imagine that my friend. It's freaking draining having my 86yr old father go through this - but, he's had a really good run. Twenty years old is just heartbreaking. My heart is with you and, with your son. I'm sure he's a battler if he's anything like yourself.
ReplyDeleteI’m thankful he lived thru it and have a pretty good creative outlet for my drama, thankfully.
DeleteI'm really not knocking the fund raising effort but surely there is some sort of government help available for people in such dire circumstances?
ReplyDeleteSurprisingly there really isn't a lot out there At least from my experience with stage 4 cancer. I received an 80$ food card a week and a gas card for travel to treatment. Social Security disability takes several months to years most of the time. I'm sure there are some programs I don't know about but there isn't as much help as most people would think
DeleteThe total was around $2100 when MB joined in. If it tops $3100 that would be a grand from MB. If we can hit that we'll start posting again...
ReplyDeleteI am surviving on a small social security disability check once a month so I can't contribute much but I will do what I can come the 1st of the month when I get my disability check in the mean time you're in my prayers
