Nothing was decided at this hearing except the next hearing date. According to the Los Angeles Times Jason Freeman told Superior Court Judge Clifford Klein that he would not submit to a DNA test as requested by Michael Channels' attorney unless he was so ordered to do so by the court. Channels' attorney told the judge he would file a motion for the DNA test.
Attorney Dale Kilken was appointed as a temporary special administrator of Charlie's earthly belongings last August 28, a term that was expected to expire on Friday December 14th, the day of the hearing. Kilken was able to recover Charlie's things from the prison but told the judge that he had not had time to go through the boxes yet and he had no idea of their value. Judge Klein extended Kilkin's special administratorship to June 21 2019, the date of the next hearing.
Freeman came out from Florida for the hearing. Channels lives in the Los Angeles area.
Something tells me this will go on for years. The attorneys, special administrators and court fees will eat up any value Charlie's estate might have. In light of Freeman's actions since being granted Manson's remains for a funeral, that might not be a bad thing.

A DNA test would be interesting to me. Everyone keeps saying Freeman is a grandson and I've never really doubted it but still … what a shock if it showed he wasn't related.
ReplyDeleteFreeman looks like Bruce Davis.....
ReplyDeleteWell... I think it ,belongs, at the BackPorch then, Channels is long time acquaintance/friend of Charles Manson , DNA positive or not..Where and When came Freeman in the Picture eeyhh ??
ReplyDeleteGive it to the long hair!
ReplyDeleteThey should just form a corporation between the two of them.

ReplyDeleteI find it revolting what this Freeman guy has done, if true. Selling part of the ashes? Also, Michael Channels from what I understand has spent thousands of dollars on care packages, mail, phone calls, visits, etc for Manson. This so called grandson suddenly appears on the scene, giving interviews that he was close to his grandfather, etc. I find it hypocritical and very obnoxious. I don't know either parties, but in my opinion, he has no dog in that fight and Manson probably wished for Michael to have all his stuff.
ReplyDeleteThe best comment in the post: "Kilken was able to recover Charlie's things from the prison but told the judge that he had not had time to go through the boxes yet and he had no idea of their value."
ReplyDeleteSo he drove up there and loaded some boxes in his Civic. Boy I hope the attorneys got paid up front.
It would be big news if Freeman wasn't Manson's grandson as it would mean either he isn't CM jnrs son or CM jnr isn't Manson's son
ReplyDeleteExcactly My train of thinking @ AustinAnn74

ReplyDeleteYup, ... team Channels here too. Freeman started losing me when he started selling stuff.
Take the DNA test and settle this, dude.
I sometimes get a kick out of Stoner V Houten's take on this mess. My bet is when it's all said and done the only "winners" will be attorneys.
Evil is in those possessions that belonged to evil men. Walk away fast. If you don’t and take possession of CM’s belongings you will turn. So too will those that partake.
ReplyDeleteIt’s my personal belief that Freeman is not the grandson. It seems logical that, if he were, he would race to get the DNA test to erase any doubt, whatsoever. It’s foing to come out that he isn’t. This judge needs to order the test to halt the madness
ReplyDeleteI'm adopted and don't know who my bio parents are, after 57 years I don't care. If I were to have searched and found I was a Manson child, I certainly wouldn't brag about it or go public. I'd be in some pretty intense therapy if I found out I had any of their DNA in me.
