I don't really want to publish it here, but you can have a look for yourselves:

Deb (naturally) acquired the court's ruling on possession of Manson's remains, so here it is. Enjoy:

    1. Agreed it is an odd choice. I thought for sure they'd do it in the desert since he always talked about going back there

  2. Sounds like they were in a disposal hurry.

Will Porterville now become a Manson-mecca for his acolytes ?

  3. I'm glad Charlie got the proper funeral he deserved.

  4. I am confused- I was told his body would be accompanying the April tour ....

  5. Supposedly Blue was at the service and ashes dispersal site, a "creek outside Porterville" - someone should post the location.
End of a long chapter ...

  7. The gloves are a macabre touch. Whose idea was this service? Jason freeman's? Did anyone else think of big lebowski when the article talks about the ashes getting blown back on the funeral attendees? Who picked the preacher?

  9. Matt,

It had to be done. That said... perhaps, regardless of where you sit with this or that motive you could remember regardless of his culpability, that nine people, innocent people, were lost because of this man.

Whether he didn’t stop a copycat killing, and could, or whether Gary Hinman sold bad dope and deserved it. Whether Shorty Shea was a nark, and whatever reason the others were killed, they were killed because of this man.

    Steven Psrent
    Sharon Tate
    Jay Sebring
    Voytek Frykowdki
    Abigail Folger
    Donald ‘Shorty’ Shea
    Gary Hinman
    Leno Labianca
    Rosemary Labianca

    Because of this man.

  10. And ..... don't forget Sharon's baby.
And ..... some say others as well (Hughes, Willett's, etc.).
But .... maybe the hands began to morph into devilish talons and required the gloves !!!

    1. The article said the gloves were to cover up the decay that occurred in the 4 months he's been on ice

      Delete
    2. Charlie was not on ice that was the problem. He was kept refrigerated and that is why the miserable state of decay.

    3. It was kinda a euphemism. A body being refrigarated is on ice. I figured it would be understood but it is the internet gotta get this stuff right. I'll try harder next time.Shouldve been taking care of months ago. Some of these folks fighting had about as much right as I do which is none

  11. Interesting to see that they used Nov. 11th as his birth date .

  12. Maybe they donated the hands to someone who lost their's in an accident and now that person will start to become evil a la The Hands Of Orlock. It would begin by them picking up a guitar even though they never played before and the hands would start to play Cease To Exist on their own.

  13. Porterville is an hour's drive north of Bakersfield. It's also a 40 minute drive due east of Corcoran. It could be that the funeral home in Porterville is the one that does most of the cremations for the prison. It's also possible that no funeral home in Bakersfield would take Manson and Porterville was the closest place that would take him.

As for the preacher, online articles have quoted the preacher as saying that funerals are for the living and Freeman seemed to be a religious person who needed the comfort of properly laying his grandfather to rest. The preacher did the service for Freeman, not for Manson.

    1. I had a funeral home picked, Conversations’s with the owner, deposits left to have Charlie privately creamated in a Direct Cremation. Kern County knee this, the funeral home had all of this in place, and paid for on the morning of November 20th when I went in person with Matthew to leave deposits & meet with the coroner. A true tragedy

All those people and more were personally murdered by Charles Watson. (Shorty was killed by Bruce )

If you are gonna be pious and pompous at least be right.

    1. You think Watson killed more people? I know he's capable but these people can't keep a secret. I'm positive had there been more someone would have spilled the beans

Which brings us back to doe.

  16. Good call Matt not publishing the pic regardless of what people thought of the man publishing that pic was in poor taste
Sandy still loyal to the very end allowing Afton to attend the service seemed rather inappropriate all thing's considered

  17. He looks so small in that coffin. I suppose people shrink as they get older and he was already tiny. I’m not sure if the part in the article where the ashes flew back in the wind towards the guests was meant to be humorous. I thought it was rather sad.

  18. A bit more info about the funeral home and the service in this Porterville newspaper article.

  19. Really weird that they put CM in the fridge instead of the freezer. I have to assume the State did so intentionally. I'm not sure what their legal responsibilities are.

This will sound ghoulish so read no further if skittish but the human body declines at a pretty fast rate even when embalmed. The first to go are the eyes plus the extremities like the fingers, toes and nose. Body fat and muscle tissue decline with the drying skin wrapping more tightly around the skeletal structure via sustained desiccation. Nature's way. (long ago I worked as an assistant to a mortician)

You can see all this in the pic -- eyes sunken in, seemingly a reduced physical size and the nose receding to reveal larger nostrils. Even though it IS Charlie I'm surprised the State would let the body go to that level of progressive decay knowing family and friends may want to have an open casket service. Chuck of course would have a last laugh at all this.

Now we sit back and wait & see what kind of monies are reaped by young Manson [aka 'christian' Freeman -- just a grieving away and wanting to do the right thing of course .... bwa-ha-ha-ha). It's not over yet, and I'm not entirely convinced "all" of Charlie went into or nearby a creek.

I can read. Nevertheless they were killed BECAUSE of Charles Tex Watson unless you believe (like BUG did) that they were killed because of hypnosis

  23. Who sold this pic to TMZ?!
Freeman, if you read this blog and you did it, c'mon. Knock it off.

I don't want to hate on Freeman, even though his motivation is feeling slippery. He has tried to overcome the fact that he lost his dad and his grandpa is Manson. Also, when he did try to meet grandpa, he was shut down (though maybe gramps felt he was being used again via the documentary Freeman is filming). Despite that, Freeman persisted and won the body.

Several years ago, a talk show interviewed Freeman where he said he channeled his negative family legacy into religion or something to do with street fighting for God. I look forward to see what he does good with the opportunity he has been given.

    Tex sure hasn't done much.

  24. Monica there have been a major amount of accusations flying around on social media about who sold the picture to TMZ. No one knows for sure. My observation from looking at the photograph is, the chairs in the background are facing the back of the coffin. That's weird. Any funeral I've been to with an open casket has the chairs facing the open casket, not the back of it.

Also, there is no evidence of anyone one being in the room. We know people were there and they should have been in the chairs or milling around. I suspect that an employee of the funeral home may have taken the picture, before putting the coffin in place, and sold it to TMZ. Purely speculation......

  26. I am surprised that he didn't bottle the remains and sell them.

  27. Yes Preston died. He was a friend- though we did not always agree on things.

He died fighting a horrid disease, and was doing his best to deal with it. In the end, it got him.

My interview of him was the last that he did.

    Rest in Peace, my friend.

And as it turns out- Irving Kanarek has outlived a lot of people.

Deb, those were my exact thoughts. The first thing that jumped out at me was that there were no one's feet visible. Plus if someone HAD taken out a camera or phone during the visitation I would think they would have been assaulted very quickly. It has all the markings of a FH employee.

  30. I respect Mr. Freeman for giving his grandfather a service, despite the notoriety of who Charlie was and the atrocious acts he ordained. The first verse in the funeral program is a little creepy if taken out of context of the Bible. I believe Freeman is a Christian man and funding a funeral and cremation for such a godless person was a very generous act. I give him props for that.

Now, what I'd really like to see are the photos of the people attending the funeral.

  33. Ironically now the LGBTQ community has joined the fray because the preacher who conducted the service doesn't like gays.

  35. Thanks for sharing that link Deb. I too found it ironic (& a mark of bad journalism) that the author of that silly article neglected to mention manson's bisexuality.

    ReplyDelete
  36. We got some ashes blown back at us when we released a loved one's ashes at the beach too. I'm glad some of his friends and family could see his remains and have some closure together. He looks like an old pioneer to me-probably like one of his kinfolk.

    ReplyDelete
  37. What is up with these Nazarenes believing in what they believe in their own Church? This kind of freedom of thought can't be tolerated. There should be a law. Or better yet, a lot of laws.

  38. Manson is bisexual like a prison rapist is bisexual. It's not a sex act. It's an act of violence and/or dominance. Just another means to control.

    ReplyDelete
  39. In all those years Peter you don't think Charlie just wanted to get his rocks off?

    ReplyDelete
  40. I think that controlling others is how he got his rocks off.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Peter, Manson covered his sexuality in one or more of his interviews. He said that he preferred women but when in prison he was left with what was available. Don't forget he was not above receiving oral sex from his male followers. He also encouraged same sex partners among the Family.

  42. I find it utterly repulsive that they displayed CM's body like that. His wishes should've been honored, despite what he did/didn't do in life. That is sickening to be on display in a casket when you've been dead for months. Awful!!

    ReplyDelete
  43. They should have carved "war" in his chest and stuck a carving fork in his head.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Humphrat, at my grandmother's funeral her ashes also blew back onto us when we spread them. I didn't really find it all that negative or obscene or upsetting, it was actually comforting in an odd & sad sort of way. I too was struck by the "pioneer" attire. Ann, Im curious, did manson ever explicitly state what he would have liked his funeral/wake to have been like?
Regardless, I find it strange & somewhat grotesque that they (whoever that is) decided to have an open casket ceremony after his corpse had been decaying for so long.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Logan, I was under the impression he had told Michael Channels that he wished to be cremated & his ashes spread out in the desert. I really think the will that Michael Channels had was Manson's accurate & true directions of what he wanted done. I know the grandson is his relative & all, but CM didn't even know the guy, did he? Michael Channels spent years visiting CM, spent hundreds, if not thousands of dollars on phone calls, commissary, care packages, etc. I'm sure CM wasn't a true friend to anyone, but I think this Michael Channels guy came close. I highly doubt CM would've wanted to be on display after being dead for months wearing some ridiculous outfit & white gloves, like he was in a damn Bob Fosse production. All he needed was a top hat & tails. I just find the whole thing a bit cheesy.....

  46. Three thoughts:
    1. Can't see 'Porterville' without thinking of CCR's first album, so that's good.
    2. If Blue was there, why not Red?
    3. Charlie, The Great Misunderstood, should have been buried missing half an ear, just like Gary Hinnan was. Or better yet, carved into the 9 pieces that seemed to be the Family standard for humor at the time.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Zelda,
I'd thought about #2, myself. I've read that Blue served out her whole sentence so she wouldn't have her movements restricted by the terms of an early release. My guess is that Red wasn't allowed to attend the service because she was released from prison early and there was some stipulation that she couldn't associate with some who might attend the funeral. It's only a guess.
    Whut
