I read that Roman gets some significant attention in this movie...
My intrigue increases daily for this project and I'm even starting to get excited. We have heard that major movies were coming before. I remember a Oliver Stome rumor years back.
I for one am a bit leery of a Tarantino version of this crime. First I harken back to the historical inaccuracy of Inglorious Basterds in the name of art. More importantly I personally don't want to see Sharon Tate stabbed 16 times and I hope neither of those possibilities comes from this.
I also read Samuel L. Jackson will have a major role...of course it's all too early but...Huh?
"I feel that Mr. Tarantino needs to reach out to me," she told the gossip site. "I'm not necessarily opposed to the project, but I am very concerned in how he would portray my sister and I would like to sit down and have a chat with him."
Restless Souls is being prepped as a 12 part miniseries for Discovery Channel. Alisa Statman is writing every episode except for the 8th one that is going to be in black and white and have the Trinity Nuclear Bomb explosion from 1945 prominently in it along with Clem's face supermiposed over a Gold floating globe.
Good one Col. Scott. I'm loving the new Twin Peaks. I think Jennifer Lawrence is pretty enough but not the right type. Margo Robbie looks better for the part but I don't know her work. Kit Harrington looks good for Charlie but again I don't watch Game of Thrones. Whoever plays Charlie, it's almost an impossible task because of his charisma and frenetic energy. Has to be good enough for Lynn Fromme to watch and want to follow him.
I also read Samuel L. Jackson will have a major role...of course it's all too early but...Huh?
Yeah, I can see Samuel L grabbing 'Charlie' by the lapels and saying "Ha! You coming up here and holding an empty gun on me, Motherfucker !!" I can even see him running up Cielo screaming "Death ! Murder ! Bodies ! Blood !" After Eddie Murphy in "Coming to America" and "The Nutty Professor," in this age of green screens anything is possible....
Spahn's relatives on display look a little edgy ....
Actress Diane Kruger would make a good Sharon Tate but like some I seriously doubt there will ever be a Manson film that comes close to capturing the "essence" of that time and era let alone the recorded incidents.
With Quentin in charge it could become a good facsimile but more likely an entertaining parody (except for the survivors of the deceased).
Stoners videos are the best. I was going to go but thought it was a full hike and it was well over 100 degrees, oh well next time. Now I really feel the vibe of the morning. Lotsa fun. Stay high!
Although it sounds like a done deal, Hollywood manufactured and unproven talent Margot Robbie will play Tate. The closest Jennifer Lawrence could resemble is Kitty Lutesinger. Let's hope Quentin has a better eye for other roles like he's had in the past. Maybe Samuel L. Jackson will play Manson !!!
Or maybe he casts himself in the role, and Manson's appearance onscreen is limited to a brief cameo while drinking a cup of coffee?
With regard to what some are saying about the onscreen depiction of violence - the fear might be that Cielo will be used as a stand in for the lodge in The Hateful 8. If he did something like that, I doubt that anyone would be able to stomach it.
I'm not sure what to make of the casting rumors, and the possibility of Sharon being a focus or central character of this movie.
His films are usually character driven, and rely a great deal on building tension, often leading to a bloody climax. Hypothetically, if he were to take that approach in this one - introducing the characters : The Cielo people; The Manson people - would there be anything viscerally satisfying about seeing the Cielo people "get theirs" from the Manson people?
If he plans on graphically depicting any of the violence at Cielo, the less he develops the characters of the victims, the better. Just my opinion.
If Jackson has a role logically it would be Crowe. Which taken with his Mr. H question ( never answered notice) then the drug angle may be a bigger part and allows for some gratuitous violence without Tate being the focus of that when you add some of the other players in that. Allows more artistic license as well. Complete speculation of course.
Funny that you say that, David, because I've long thought that the Crowe shooting was the most cinematic moment in this case. That event, as described, played out like a scene from a Tarantino movie. And most people who know the name "Charles Manson" don't even know that it happened - Manson had to explain to Charlie Rose who Lotsapoppa was, for instance.
IF QT doesn't take advantage of his opportunity to put the Crowe/Manson confrontation on film, I will be really surprised, and kind of disappointed.
I look forward to what soundtrack he comes up with! Always a highlight of his movies since he finds some good obscure ones. Zagar and Evans? Good Morning Starshine haha. The Soft Parade. I'm thinking Pitt and Jackson are the detective team. QT's question to Robert he said something like "what's not certain is Charlie's involvement in a conspiracy for Cielo" which makes me think he would show Charlie and Tex's conversation but from a distance so you can't hear what's being said.

Yeah, I wonder about that too. If thought last August that Manson's involvement in Cielo was dubious, has he changed his mind? Has he been reading Dreath/David's posts? (Damn you Dreath/David!)
Quinten obviously hosted Mr. H's documentary screening but I wonder how well he knows the case?
I wonder what he will base his narrative on?
Will he use the documentary - which pretty much promoted Bugs as the expert- as his framework for the story or will it come from or include other angles?
JMO: Back in the day, I would have cast Michelle Pfeiffer as Sharon. None of today's crop seem right. Too ordinary: "B"-movie starlets used to have more charisma than today's younger crop of screen gems (Emma Stone = exception).
Ziggy, your take on $$$Debbie's$$$ involvement is exactly what my first reaction was. Her casting instincts suck anyway; anyone remember that "model" she got for the showing of the "trunk collection" on some cheesy gossip show?!
Now I'm curious to see what that model looks like. I didn't see it, but knowing Deb, it would probably be someone that she could get on the cheap. I just hope that she didn't send her convicted child molester buddy, Don Wilson, out on a model search.
Rose Byrne. She has more than a passing resemblance to ST. She's obviously older at 37, but she doesn't look it. And, for as gorgeous as ST was, I always felt she looked older than mid-20's in some of her pics.
The group was amazed how much George's grandson Dennis looks like him
ReplyDeleteStoner sets the record straight on their inability to spell
ReplyDeleteStoner - " George Spahn was a dirty old man who had sex with dirty old hippies"
ReplyDeleteWell actually the hippies were pretty young, although dirty. Stoner acts like what George did was a bad thing. Stoner is funny.
ReplyDeleteSomeone needs to rectify the sound quality of that video.
The background noise was the cameraman doing blunts
ReplyDeleteUnlistenable
ReplyDeleteAnd perhaps not worth the effort
ReplyDeleteI heard it fine
ReplyDeleteSharon Tate’s sister says Jennifer Lawrence is ‘not pretty enough’ to play the late actress in Tarantino flick
ReplyDeleteStoner does great work!!

But this looks legit 😉

ReplyDeleteIs Debra angling to be hired as a consultant?
I say get her input. Like Restless Souls- it is good to have some perspective from the victim family side. It makes the story more real...
ReplyDeleteMaybe they give her a cameo. She could play Ruby

Sounds more like a shakedown to me.
And since when is she not opposed to a Manson movie? And one made by a director known for making violent films, no less.
She's also flexing her "owner$hip of the right$ to $haron Tate'$ image and likene$$'.
Deb just wants the attention.

ReplyDeleteI wish I could have heard the rest of the group as well as I heard Stoner.
ReplyDeleteGo Stoner, GO!!! Thanks.
ReplyDelete"This is it" is my favorite Stoner UTube ever.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I am also partial to his Barker clip as I make a brief appearance at the very end lol
I think the actress who played Alan's Young's girlfriend Candy on two and a half men looks exactly like young Sharon....
I hope it's not as violent as some of Quintens other stuff and it may not be an exact reproduction of the events factually...
But I think he can still make a great movie about the topic with his style. I'm hopeful
I also would love to see more on Alisas amazing book 👍

Actually I think Alisa is the executive producer. I can't seem to get ahold of her to confirm.
ReplyDeleteZiggy, I hope so.

Agreed Ziggy. I absolutely cannot wait to see how he treats that scene!

Ziggy, I don't think any of the feet in that room that day could have measured up. But, QT is a guru.
ReplyDelete
ReplyDeleteRosina was somewhere in that apartment too. And I bet she had some nice big tootsies, like Uma.
On another note, whoever gets the role of Charlie will soon know what Sam Jackson's feet taste like.
I always thought Julianne Moore looked a lot like Sharon, except for the hair color. But now Julianne is too old to play Sharon, unfortunately.

Lydia Hearst would be a perfect fit for Sharon!

ReplyDeleteAgreed, Trilby.

ReplyDeleteI agree.
DeleteShe does look like her alot in the eyes.
I also always thought Selma Hayek looked alot like Sharon in the face/eyes, except that Selma has really dark hair. But she isn't in her 20's.
