Great difficulty with keyboard freeze.Anyway.I was contacted by Bill Nelson of Anahiem in Florida in 1991.He tracted me through purged voter/listing of residents in Simi Hills for 1969.I was renting a camp from a neighbor of G.Spahn from Jan-Jun '69 about a 15 min.walk from the ranch. At the time I was establishing in state residency
ReplyDeleteI’m interested in a tour , I’m not a Manson hater by any means. How do I email you?
ReplyDeleteYou may have to rethink visiting the hog farm in Sunland. Part of it burned to the ground in the Creek Fire

Thanks for the update. The fires in LA are terrible, so many homes and acres burned. As far as we know Spahn Ranch hasn't burned, again, nor any of the sites related directly to the murders.
It has been terrible. We had evacuation orders. The hog farm owners are also missing their dogs.
ReplyDeleteNext year.
ReplyDeleteThis year's platinum level tour includes the "Shorty Experience" where one of us will dress up as Scramblehead in a pair of crotchless Levis and hit you in the back of the head with a pipe wrench before we steal all your stuff.

ReplyDeleteThere are also soooo many graves to rub
Be careful, the grave you rub may be your own.
ReplyDeleteExactly, Peter!
ReplyDeleteIt's a good thing then that Patty doesn't rub graves.
ReplyDeleteSetting aside grave rubbing fetishes for a minute, I always thought a tour like this would be fun even though it seems to be primarily the domain of the blog oligarchy and I respect that, But if one doesn't know the itinerary ahead of time how does one know if it will be of interest and how to prepare and plan ? Or does it operate like a pot-luck dinner or luck of the draw ? Or could one rudely back out at the last minute after learning the itinerary saying it's not my cup of tea ?
ReplyDeleteAnyway, don't worry -- I can't make it this next round but just curious about the rules of engagement. I think I've been to most of the major sites before but missed out getting a personal tour of Spahn and the "cave' by noted Stoner. And I personally would be easy about visiting anything already seen, especially Barker which I go to almost every year plus the surrounding desert.
Robert, WE normally don't even know what we will do before we get there. It's always fluid. This year we have a couple of interesting ideas that we will discuss in more depth privately in the coming months. But, announcing the itinerary is something we will likely never do.
ReplyDeleteDamn! I will retire eventually and only then be able to join in...
ReplyDeleteI don't think I can be a reasonable facsimile for Clem, measuring tape or not.
