Parole Recommended For Bruce Davis.... Again

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A parole panel on Wednesday recommended the release of a former follower of cult leader Charles Manson after California governors blocked four previous parole recommendations.

Bugliosi says in the last paragraph that Crowe had been "jailed on a marijuana charge."  While doing further research into Crowe I discovered that he was not jailed for a marijuana charge but rather burglary and forgery charges.  He was involved with three other people in what was said to be a "$250,000 forgery and burglary ring."  To put it into perspective that amount of money in 1970 would be worth a whopping $1,555,109.54 today.  Crowe's forgery endeavors were no small potatoes and much more lucrative that what Crowe could have made dealing kilos of marijuana.

Bruce Davis, 74, had his 31st parole hearing at the California Men's Colony at San Luis Obispo as he serves a life sentence for the 1969 slayings of musician Gary Hinman and stuntman Donald "Shorty" Shea.

Davis was not involved in the more notorious killings of actress Sharon Tate and six others by the Manson "family" the same year.

During the half-century since the slayings, parole panels have now decided five times that Davis is no longer a public safety risk. Officials cited his age and good behavior behind bars that includes earning a doctoral degree and ministering to other inmates.

Governors, however, have the final say on release. Gov. Jerry Brown will have about five months to consider the latest recommendation.

Brown rejected the previous recommendation last year. Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger also concluded that Davis remains too dangerous to be free.

Davis testified at his 2014 hearing that he attacked Shea with a knife and held a gun on Hinman while Manson cut Hinman's face with a sword.

"I wanted to be Charlie's favorite guy," he said then.

Attorney Michael Beckman, who has been fighting for years for the release of Davis, said he is the most rehabilitated prisoner among the 2,000 he is representing in the penal system. "There's no one even a close second," he said.

Los Angeles County District Attorney Jackie Lacey called the Manson-related slayings "some of the most horrific crimes in California history." She objected to the possible release of Davis. "We believe he continues to exhibit a lack of insight and remorse and remains a public safety risk," she said in a statement after the parole decision.

Gary Hinman's cousin, Kay Martley, said Davis' crime was so heinous that he should die in prison. Hinman was tortured for three days, Martley recounted in remarks prepared for the parole hearing. "This wasn't a crime of passion or impulse; this was slow, calculated and cold-blooded," she wrote. Martley, who traveled from Hinman's native Colorado to attend the parole hearing, said she was angry about the recommendation.

"Just because he's going to be 75, he's considered a low risk even though they said he has a personality disorder that he's going to have to work on — his narcissistic behavior, need for acceptance, his grandiosity."

Davis was convicted with Manson and another follower, Steve Grogan, in the twin slayings. Grogan was paroled in 1985 after he led police to Shea's buried body. Robert Beausoleil, convicted in Hinman's death, remains in prison.

Manson and followers Leslie Van Houten, Patricia Krenwinkel and Charles "Tex" Watson are imprisoned for the Tate killings. Their co-defendant, Susan Atkins, died of cancer behind bars in 2009.

"Grogan was paroled in 1985 after he led police to Shea's buried body.”

Bruce Davis, everyday since 1985 - "Why didn't I think of that?"

Grogan was the only person who knew where Shea was buried. The article did not mention Debra, she is usually at Bruce's hearings as a victims advocate representing the family of Shea.

As usual, I drove by there twice today. Both times, I looked over there, wondering if the hearing was going on right then.

I wonder if - like the parole board who finally lost the heart to say no to this man once a year -

Brown eventually feels the same ?

I'm loosing confidence that none of them will ever get out.

But only a little

It's kind of amazing that Grogan went back and buried Shorty's body at night and was able to identify the spot 8 years later.

I have to admit, this made me laugh as much as the ziggy morphing into Mario bit did.

Would you be upset if Bruce was paroled ?

I say let Bruce go. Let ALL of them out now, with the exception of Watson.

One of the speakers at the Woman's March in DC is a black woman that tortured, sodomized and murdered somebody years ago. That's who dumb white liberal women in silly pink hats are cheering for. What did Bruce actually do? He held a gun for a few minutes and was involved in a murder with a group of people. This is why the girls are playing the abused woman card now at parole hearings. Clearly trying to court the sympathy and support of the anti-male propagandists.

At this point, they are being kept locked up for purely political reasons. The communist trash who rule California are using them. Paint them up as evil white racists who tried to start a race war and constantly nail them to a cross as a cause, not an effect of the world's problems, while their college professors and scum like Bill Ayers are indoctrinating the youth with Marxism and turning them into communist storm troopers programmed to resort to violence to shut out any alternative view points.

I could live with Leslie getting out. I'm still not there on the rest of them yet.

I wouldn't be thrilled about Lulu either

Bruce is tricky for me. If all he did is what we know he did - not too upset but not thrilled But I still feel he did and knows more to some extent. That extent makes the difference to me. It's hard to say

But - as I may never know for sure- I would prefer he stay.

I admit MM has valid points here. I have to at this point lol.

MM will you tell us more about the woman at the march who tortured, sodomized, and murdered someone, what is her name and what are the circumstances of this hideous crime? Today the guy who cuts my hair told me that Manson had been found dead from a self inflicted knife slash to his throat, in his cell. He supposedly left a suicide note. Now for the last six or so months we have all heard Manson is living in the prison hospital, so I was suspicious. I looked on the web and it is another hoax. Like I said on Lynyrd's blog Manson is probably not even strong enough to slash his own throat.

DebS said...

Beauders, her name is Donna Hylton. She was a speaker at the march.

https://www.womensmarch.com/speakers/

Google her name and you will get tons of hits.

MM,did you get a job writing for Breitbart (points deducted for not calling us "Feminazis", then); or just spend your summer vacation at one of those AltRight camps in the Everglades?

Manson Mythos said...

Right, I have to be a toothless hillbilly in the everglades to find it crazy that dumb rich white women with pink "pussy hats" on their heads are cheering for Sharia Law advocates, torture killers and washed degenerate pop stars....or wearing Hijabs as a symbol of women's rights, despite thousands of woman protesting in Iran in 1979 against having to wear them.

If only I was as intellectually superior and "progressive" as you.

I would never call you feminazis either, as it would be an insult to the German woman of the 30s-40s.

beauders said...

Looked up Donna Hylton, and feminists should not be emulating her or anyone like her. It's hard to believe she's even out of prison. What was her motive for the crime? I have to say that even Leslie Van Houten and Pat Krenwinkel's crimes are not as bad as this woman's.

Chris B said...

The link below is for an article on Hylton that also refers to Manson

Oh, I don't know....murder is murder when push comes to shove.

beauders said...

Grim I view murder with torture as being worst than murder.

grimtraveller said...

I know what you mean and part of me does agree with you. But because they both end with murder, it's also hard to say one is worse than the other. But that's me being dispassionate. Emotionally it is worse, same way a long drawn out death like Wogiciech Frykowski's, Shorty Shea's or Abigail Folger's was worse than a speedy one like Steven Parent's.

David said...

If you get into it a bit she appears to be the Van Houten of the murder. That raises a number of questions going back to the judge's words when LVH was sentenced.

Why is she free after 25 and not LVH??

A useful life-after despite what you think of her politics?

Grim, two serial killers in Los Angeles recorded on cassette their torturing of one of their victims. It was played in court, you can hear some of it on youtube. Just go to Rocketman1984 and find the video for Lawrence Bittaker. I've listened to it once can't again, it is the most horrifying thing I've ever heard and I am a student of not just Manson but the holocaust and Jonestown. Don't listen to it if you are faint of heart. You can also transcript of it on the web.

Never said you were toothless or a hillbilly (no #alternativefacts to offer here);just a run-of-the-mill AltRightHead without an original thought in your head, since you began drinking the kool aid.
Surprised your profile pic isn't a swastika. Or a parrot (no offense intended to parrots).
