I'm sure many of you have seen this poster from Robert Hendrickson's Academy Award nominated (1973) documentary, MANSON. The accompanying article from the San Francisco Chronicle from January 16, 1976 explains the ban.
The damaged and taped-together photo was given to me by Robert. He said that Joan Merrick was a very attractive lady, and that Bugliosi could not keep his eyes off of her when they met to discuss the documentary.
Blimey ! Is it 2017 already ?
ReplyDeleteA fitting memento from an excellent gentleman.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was in law school my criminal procedure professor used RH's case as an example: whether an individual's 1st Amendment right can be taken away fro the sake of a defendant in a criminal trial (trial publicity). His conclusion was this result was improper but acknowledged by the time it ended up at the Supreme Court the issue would be 'moot'- the trial would be over.
ReplyDeleteThe photo is fascinating. Boy, I would have liked to have been in that room.

ReplyDeleteYou know, Mr. Humphat, you are right.
ReplyDelete"Humphrat"
ReplyDeleteThe photo is damaged & taped together. The middle wasn't salvageable.
ReplyDeleteOK got it.
ReplyDeleteThat piece of information makes me want to know what was in the missing shot bit. Clearly 'Bug' is talking to someone....
ReplyDeleteThat brings me back to Robert and the five hour mini series (as well as the Manson copy reorder I never received but came to understand why) he frequently mentioned. Like the missing part of this image I wonder if there might be a way to do something about the 5 hour mini-series of film Robert had.
Col Scott likely could help and if the new post leads to an exit by Manson the footage might be of significant interest.
Just a thought.
Dreath...i thought the same..i imagine the Col is chasing up who owns what copyrights etc ...he was obsessed with that issue and would hassle RH all the time..Why ?
