Robert, we can all see that you are not answering
Ziggy
I now think you might be on to something.
Manson was released in 1973. I need to look at the end of the original film on VHS. Even registering it in 1981 which is a bit weird, would not protect copyright if it was not on the original film. If he has to renew in the 28th year and did so in 2000 that is too soon but the renewal would be automatic anyway.
I can only say when someone refuses to answer the same questions and instead throws Islamophobia my way he has something to hide. If they did not put a notice on it it is PD in USA. It would automatically renew itself after 28 years for an addition 67 years under the revised copyright laws. \
MHN said... I think it's going to get awfully monotonous here if every thread ends up with Col aggressively hounding Robert with questions about copyright.
I am damned if I know why such aggressive hounding of Robert Hendrickson and his perceived intellectual property on the Manson documentaries is being allowed on on this site. Maybe, I am not a big enough snob to be allowed to voice dissent. Robert was there, on the scene, he captured moments in social history. Let him be. Let him make whatever he can to supplement his income at an elderly age.
Thank GOD created the U.S. Copyright Office for inquiring minds to feed their brains AND even invented "lawyers" to hand feed young and confused brains.
For ME - INSANE works fine - especially on a website where most everyone has a new and improved "name" Like Jimbo is really Bimbo, Dickhead is really ZEAKtheGEEK, etc. etc.
@MHN & equinox - I think we're all on Robert's side here, though it may not look like it at times. It is my belief that ColScott is trying to help Robert. Robert should be getting all that is due to him for "Manson", and it doesn't appear that he is. ColScott is certainly most capable of helping Robert in this situation.
On another note and on topic somewhat, since the topic is Squeaky, @equinox, I noticed a Led Zep/Squeaky thread at TOTLB. I was wondering if you noticed it too? ;)
@Robert Hendrickson - Did you just call me a dickhead? :(
@MHN & equinox - I think we're all on Robert's side here, though it may not look like it at times.
Hi Ziggy, yes accepted. I wish Mr H were able to get the fame and fortune due to him for his excellent documentaries. Documentaries of that quality are by and large no longer made nowadays. Everything seems to be 'reality' tv which is geared towards resurrecting the careers of 'z list celebrities' and made specifically to appeal to the cognitively challenged.
I saw the thread you are referring to over at TOTLB (I am not a member, but do take a cursory look at it). I'd love to know what Squeaky wanted to warn Jimmy about. Maybe she knew that he has a strong interest in the occult? Perhaps she knew about someone planning to have a go at him. I remember in the 70's, a young American female flew over from the US, and broke into Page's Tower House mansion with an axe in her hand (and I don't mean 'axe' as in guitar).
@MHN & equinox - I think we're all on Robert's side here, though it may not look like it at times. It is my belief that ColScott is trying to help Robert.
"How did a photo of Red that I just got directly from her 3 weeks ago turn into a conversation/argument over copyright infringement? I'm lost here."
Ben, would you possibly ask Lynette the next time you are in touch with her as to what the message was that she was trying to pass on to Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin?
BEN: I think the photo has something to do with, back in the day, "Squeaky" as acting "CEO" of the Manson Family assigned USE of the original 1967 Manson Family audio recordings to Merrick International Pictures, whereupon, Merrick re-assigned ALL of HIS rights to ME. Phil Kaufman may OR may not have obtained the RIGHT to "produce" an album of said music.
Squeaky ALSO gave over to Merrick / ME the actual RAW "recordings." I, in turn, "produced" (added musical enhancement) to some of those songs / music for "use" in "Inside the MANSON Gang."
IF Charlie has a "problem" with THAT, I sure haven't heard anything about it.
Squeaky, my favorite little gangster - look'in GOOD. I never openly thanked you for helping to make MANSON 1973 such a success, but NEVER say NEVER to always.
P.S. You and the old GANG may become famous AGAIN, depending on how this whole MUSLIM vs America WAR turns out !
Everyone says "we were all different people when we were younger", so anyone can change and should get a second chance.
How many of you harbored homicidal fantacies, and could EASILY identify with a person who may have participated in shooting a 19 year old mother in the face?
If so, then viewing Squeaky as a person deserving being treated like the rest of society would be in alignment with your ethos.
I can't imagine being talked into taking or violating another's life, now or in 1969. Was I a different person then? Yes, of course I was, but comparing my behaviors to Squeaky's is like comparing apples to rattlesnake venom.
As far as I know, Squeaky (Red) didn't physically harm anyone. I for one would be interested to hear what she has to say nowadays about current world affairs (as long as it doesn't compromise her parole conditions).
PS. does anyone know the make of motorcycle she is on in Ben's photo?
BTW Thanks Ben for providing this photo, and thanks to Red for allowing it to be shown.
Fifty or so years ago, the FRENCH gave US an enemy they could NOT defeat.
Of course, Presidents JFK and LBJ were ONLY to happy to accept such a gift.
NOW, the FRENCH apparently have anothe gift for US - it is called ISIS, the new state of Islam. The MANSON Family ENDED the 1960's and consequently the Vietnam WAR. AND, back then, THEY also, "warned" US about the RISE of Islam. So here's what I think: Those that didn't LOSE any loved ones or close friends in the rice paddies of Vietnam look down on the MANSON Family, but those that DID - not so much.
It's just human nature and we still live in caves, BUT with electricty NOW.
First of all, I don't understand this whole punitive culture. That incarcerating women like Leslie Van Houten and Patty Krenwinkel for forty years is an appropriate penalty for crimes in their youth, which there are plenty of mitigating arguments.
They were violent because they are Americans. It's in your DNA, how you got to the top. How else are you going to survive. Who rises to the top of American society, Ronda Rousey or the girl who waits on your table?
Staring at cinder blocks in a cell 23 of 24 hours is inhumane. It is more humane to be murdered and be done with it than what these women have endured. And why are they afraid of paroling these women. What would a 64 year old woman, locked up for 40 years, pose as a threat to society?
Are they going to go out in the street and bite people?
I was robbed at gunpoint while working as a gas station attendant ( an arcane profession in the field of fuel transfer ) and became physically ill, and will involuntarily retain that memory till I'm in the deepest stages of Alzeheimer's. Was I physically harmed? Do you think parsing to the sub-atomic level changes my experience?
Squeaky was released from Stockton on a lack of evidence consideration, not an abundance of innocence.
I am sorry to hear of your dreadful experience. However, I was referring to the attempted assassination, and I am sure she did in excess of 30 years for that. Unfortunately, you didn't have the benefit of the US Secret Service protection like Ford did. I am not excusing Red or anyone who brandishes a weapon, but ultimately, she didn't shoot the President, and paid dearly for her actions that day. I am well aware that the mental effect of these experiences remains with the victims all their lives. These type of crimes are particularly prevalent where the premises are undermanned and there is cash readily available in the till.
Great to hear from you again FARFLUNG: Now let ME give you an image to smile about.
A while back a person very close to me got into a thing with someone at a gas pump. It was late at night and HE was close friends with the gas station attendant. He was in the driver's seat of his car and the other guy came up to his window and put a gun to HIS face. The attendant viewing on the station monitor, quickly got HIS gun and ran around the back of the guy with a gun. HE smartly put the gun right to the head of the "bad" guy and blew HIS brains out - before HE could even pull the trigger. Gas station attendants can KILL any intruder without ANY shit from the cops. BUT you must believe in GUNS - that they are for "equalizing" human conduct.
AND yes my friend lost a shirt to alot of splattered blood - and the image is a lesson HE will never forget. GUNS, GUNS, GUNS - they make the world a better place - in the RIGHT hands, of course.
In some respects I consider Fromme's dedication as legal runner/acting CEO of the Manson family/holder of the torch, combined with her actions, in particular pointing a gun at a serving president of the USA and the threatening letter campaign have probably done more to keep the rest of them in prison than help them.
In the sense of the public perception of the imagined danger they pose.
That said, her loyalty and conviction appears well above and beyond the majority of her peers.
"..That said, her loyalty and conviction appears well above and beyond the majority of her peers."
Yes, I would say the same thing about Sandy too. They seem to be highly principled people - perhaps you may not share their ideals, but they certainly stand by what they believe in.
Problem is: Squeaky set the BAR so high for "Stand by your man" NO woman can EVER compete with HER. AND don't think the CIA's MK ULTRA brainwashing engineers aren't STILL banging THEIR heads over Squeaky's 100% devotion. Unless Charles Manson was one of THEIRS!

Hi Mr H, You are very perceptive here. People underestimate the extent to which Red was devoted to Charlie.
Farflung if you said that about Nancy Pitman I would agree with you, but Fromme was on her way to the house in Stockton and called for a ride. The police of course picked her up. She never made it to the house.
The Flora Ave timeline is condensed and overlapping regarding Squeaky.
She arrived in Stockton on the 10th of Nov according to her lawyer. She spent the night there with at least Goucher, Monfort, Brenda, Craig, Cooper, and an infant of unknown origin. Let's assume that Squeaky didn't know the child even though she was the one who introduced James to Goucher in San Francisco according to Goucher's testimony featured on this blog.
On the same day the house was raided, Squeaky called for a ride from B&E Liquor about six blocks away.
Lauren had been killed and buried in that timeframe and Squeaky apparently slept a few feet above her fresh grave, in a home with an infant she knew didn't belong to Brenda or Priscilla.
Squeaky either has the World's worst timing, or the best. You decide.
Equinox. I'm never too sure about Sandy. I was struck by Brook Poston's police interview pre October 1969 bust. In it he lumps her in with those who would leave but have nowhere else to go. The Bravin book on Squeaky presents Good as little more than a mouthpiece leaning on Squeaky's strength.
What a waste of her life. She has done nothing interesting. She is nothing but a low class criminal that just happened to know a abunch of other low class murders.
She was the first family member I ever heard of, long before I knew anything about the Family, Charlie or anything connected with TLB. She even predates my love of the Beatles' music. It's funny that she keeps being referred to as 'Red'.......
