Such a sweet looking house. A piece of Americana gone by, in its appearance alone. Reminds me the kind of house featured in a hundred "G" rated US movies I watched as a kid. Sad that the house , store and farm had to be tainted by the actions of a previous occupant. How far away this place mustve seemed to Tex Watson when he immersed himself in California's drug and sex drenched hippie-dom. It must've felt like he'd discovered a new planet.

Susan :) that is exactly what I was thinking!

Think of the shame he brought on that home, his family and that town. I'm sure the ghosts still linger.

Hi Saint! Yes, there should be an apple pie cooling on the window sill! . If I won the lottery I'd possibly buy the place. Do some restoration and open it , for a fee, ofcouse, to the public. In saying this I mean absolutely no disrespect to the victims of Watsons crimes, or Watsons own relatives. Other previous homes of infamous criminals are opened to the curious. The fee could be donated to a victims of crime charity. Just a suggestion.

The Dorothea puente house in Sacramento is one such place that is occasionally open to the public. you can see it here on this blog if you care to, scroll down the right hand side till you come to the appropriate (or inappropriate?) Tag.

Patty wonders if "one time home of an infamous killer" is on the real estate disclosure?

Back when I was in my 20s and wasn't making much money I received a ticket for making a Hollywood stop at a stop sign. When I came to court I parked far away where there were no parking meters. I was walking to the court house and noticed news crews and law enforcement digging. That's how I found out about Dorothea Puente.....

I think the house would not be visited much for as we know Tex is not well known as the killer of this case. Probably people would come if it was the Manson House. But i can imagine years ahead the buyers hearing stories of Tex's childhood and wondering that they are actually living where the mad killer lived.

OMG ! I just realized that the TWO most notorious MASS MURDERERS of the 1960s "TEX" Watson and Lyndon Johnson BOTH emerged from TEXAS and both were involved in a RACE war. Coincidence or what ?

AND Ann: I've done MY homework - there is a deliberate MOVE to force LOW income minorities and whites OUT of the up and coming NEW and IMPROVED California. It apparently began with the recent DEPRESSION and housing crisis. AND where is the "depressed" California going ? You guessed it - AUSTIN and other parts of Texas.

Cities here are NOW imposing huge $$$ development TAXES on developers in order to even be allowed to build apartments. New apartments are now being built with ONLY 2 bedroom, 2 bath units at $2,500 a month.

Home ownership by individuals in California is now at an all time low of 30%.

Sorry, but the great migration to Texas is only beginning. Maybe the ONLY resolve will be for Texas to produce some MORE MASS KILLERS ! Got my camera loaded.

Actually, Robert, home ownership was lower in 89, 70, some of the 60s, and of course, the 40s. But,it IS on the decline.
