Leslie Van Houten's attorney says he will consider
subpoenaing the tapes before her next parole hearing!
A year after obtaining audio recordings that had been out of reach for four decades, LAPD is keeping a tight lid on details of what exactly was said by Tex Watson, convicted killer and then member of the infamous Charles Manson murder cult.

Good, I really want to hear what;s on these tapes. The LAPD NEEDS to release these. It's a matter of public trust now. If nothing is there, fine. But if something that's on these tapes prove that there was impropriety involved in this case it needs to be exposed. I still believe these folks are guilty, but this info needs to come to light.
And the LORD sayth: "He who has the guns IS the LAW."
BUT he who has WORDS can make some noise.
AND He who has $$ money $$ can BUY those who have GUNS.
OR those WHO have "balls" can make NOISE that is loader than Gun SHOTS and WORDS !
Of course, that's WHY the cops have GUNS - in case they run across "A PAIR of Balls."
If there are indeed more murders on that Tapes, then they have had to make arrests or at least investigate that murders by now ??
Since Boyd told O'Neill that Watson was candid about other murders that MANSON committed at least that would make the case against Manson stronger.
Also, one of the complaints of the O'Neill article was the mainstream press wasn't interested in the story anymore as if it were a conspiracy of silence. So I guess NBC lost their memo on staying silent or there never was a conspiracy.
Very interesting stuff
I always felt the tapes would have nothing, but it appears that something shady is going on and that makes you ask yourself why?
HOWEVER :)
Not sure how it helps LULU in any case?
She knew what they did the first nite and she asked to go the second. She helped kill two people and she has admitted that for over 30 years.
Does Tex trying to catch Susan for most versions of the story by telling, possibly yet another version of it, on a tape 40 some years ago- make LULU's involvement any less?
LULU has spent 30 some years trying to take more and more responsibility for the crimes. What is she going to do now- go in and take it all back? tell the board she made it all up to make them happy??? It really wasn't her fault after all- lets go back to square one?
That part- I do not get...
sounds like reaching to me
Well, good to see you, Saint. I heard you were poking your head in a little. Glad to see it's true!
Somebody in the previous thread said it would't matter because the parole board can't consider anything that wasn't entered into evidence at trial. I don't know if that's true or not but it makes sense.
BUT it would be great for the historical record and may even get us closer to the real truth, but who can believe anything that Watson says.
Man, Robert is on his game. His cogent theory in the last thread just floored me.
and can I just say to the Saint what Bruce Willis said to Ben Affleck in Armegeddon....
damn good to see ya.
by the way, I don't agree with Robert's theory, I just thought it was presented perfectly.
:) Suze and Leary
I resent the idea that they are stonewalling this for no good reason but I really loathe the idea even more that they are stonewalling this for a substantial reason.
Hey ST...!
I always wonder why none of the other family members has every come forward any of them could have but they have not is it possible that they are responsible for just the murderes that are all ready know about. We also know that they liked to brag about what they had done they are not all connected now.I would love to hear the tapes just because Watson tried to block them
Go Michael Beckman! Patty really digs that guy.
ST, the way Patty understands it, the tapes may show that the murders were less of an orchestrated conspiracy and more the work of TeX the serial killer. Leslie did participate in the murders, but if the Bug's case starts to unravel, then Leslie may be viewed as less of a threat to society and hence a better candidate for parole. Is she understanding it correctly?
Hey Max!
Patty :) I guess that is the line of thinking they are using...
I guess lol
but I am just not sure Leslie can minimize her involvement to get out at this point after trying for so long to not appear to be minimizing...
But I understand that they have tried almost everything else to get her out, so I guess its worth a shot and prayer...
Just sounds like a very long shot or reach to me to think people would suddenly think what she did was that different if Charlie told her to or Tex did...
although I get the significance between the two- not sure the public does or cares ANYMORE so long as these " crazy" people are locked away...
YES Patty, and that may NOT be a big deal for many, BUT Leslie sure must be interested.
For me, I am interested in WHY TEX (after the Tate/LaBianca Massacre) ended-up HIDING in Olancha.
also: Exactly what HE says Charlie said to make HIM go to the Tate house to KILL ?
WHAT questions did HIS attorney "BOYD" ask ? AND how TEX answered them.
Remember - TEX was the actual "Commander in Chief" at the TATE house.
Let ME be blunt here - NOTHING like the Watson TAPE "opportunity" may EVER arise again:.
IF the cops can NOT realize ANYTHING of significant interest on those TAPES, I understand, they're just "dunk'in donut" cops, BUT we allow those nimrods to carry GUNS.
PLEASE MR. Policeman: Let someone who, at least, knows how to run a tape deck play the tapes for someone who actually KNOWS how to intelligently UNDERSTAND the nature of someone like TEX Watson listen to the tapes. I'm sure Patty and many others who read this Manson Blog could realize something significant on those tapes.
NOTE: IF YOU cops don't trust US, at least realize, WE will NEVER trust YOU !
About the tapes:
1. As Suze said, can people really believe in what Tex said, i mean, this was right after the murders and he would tell a tale right on the spot.
2.I don't think Leslie could use it, as ST. said, she admitted she knew people were going to be killed that night and wished to go.
About Tex:
I am doing the devil's advocate here but i think Tex did what Charlie said. For all i read the man developed a psychotic behaviour for all the drugs he was using - he was even known as "crazy charles" etc. So i really think Manson took advantage of it. I mean, people who actually were there (DeCarlo, Watkins, to quote a few) and gave their testimonies on the trial said it was Manson's ideas HS philosphy. People in the family were actually talking about it. It was pure paranoia out there at that time so my opinion is that Manson really used those people to kill. They were mean and had that "thug life" already but i really believe Charlie was in charge.
Remember Flynn testified to cops and later in the trial that Charlie had intimidated and said to him: "Don't you know i'm the one who's doing all these killings?"
Chris I agree with you about "Charles in Charge" Manson = commander in chief, Watson = crazy sargent. It's not a devil's advocate position, it's a perfectly rational opinion when you look at the primary evidence, including interviews with those who were there. RE: Leslie wanting to go on the 2nd night. The interview I saw relating to that subject Leslie told the interviewer something like "there must have been something in my eyes that said I wanted to go because Charlie picked me..." I think she later said once she was in the house it was a completely different reality-not in the abstract anymore. However, it would cause huge pain to the victim's families to let her out, so I'm not sure what's right.
