Steve Grogan aka Clem sure has come a long way....musically, at least. Once upon a time, he was a dusty, mixed-up kid who could pick a guitar slightly, while singing about the Manson Family's favorite subject matter: Death! Now, he is an accomplished, professional blues guitarist with a TON OF TALENT. Obviously, he has come a long way, because I found a video of him playing, and SINGING in a Paris, France club! OUI OUI!!

I saw a video of him jamming onstage with Bob Weir of the The Grateful Dead in what looked like a small club on youtube. I just tried to find it to no avail but I think it was posted on this blog a year or two ago. Anybody, anybody, Beuller?.....
Watching that was surreal. I used to listen to The Family Jams all the time, and people would complain about how bad the music was. He's so different now.
Hey Doc! I found what I think your talking about but it looks like just stills.

He is a great guitarist, I have that Mitch Woods Istanbul CD and it rocks!
Hi Deb. Yep, it looks like the same guitar I remember him playing but what I saw was a video. I think I posted something like it must have been the pinnacle of his career to be playing onstage with Bob Weir. I don't know if that'll help you find it. I'd try to find it but I don't know how without going through the etire blog archives.....
Without getting into one of those never-ending debates on crime & punishment.... musically, that was very enjoyable to listen to
He was actually quite talented back in the Helter Skelter days as well.
Sorry this is a bit off topic, but I don't know if you guys have caught wind of this yet: http://insidetv.ew.com/2014/03/31/david-duchovny-aquarius-charles-manson/
Rosie, I saw it, too, and I really hope it's an April Fool's Day joke.
It won't work.
I think he was talented back in the day too, but I didn't much care for "The Family Jams" music. The girls in the
background all sounded the exact same in every song: like alley cats.
I enjoy the Family Jams very much, despite low production value. I think Steve's voice back then was great and even though some of the songs are a bit annoying (mostly from underproduction) in some of the songs, the girls' voices were really complimentary- imo.
Steve now is a great musician, and seems to be having a great life- marries to a psychologist with two children (I think one is 37, the other mid-late 20s?) Which means, he too, was given conjugal visits.
His children are Adam Grogan and Gabriel Grogan... which is where he gets his stage name.
After reading about what a retard clem supposedly was i was amazed by how articulate he is in Manson 73. He uses the word "vicariously" and he sounds smart.
Go Clem GO!!
