HAPPY THANKSGIVING, EVERYONE!! Please consider taking any leftovers out after dinner with a blanket, thermos, bottled water, etc. and feeding a homeless person (today and every day). Or (today and every day, but they're especially shorthanded on holidays) volunteering at your local animal rescue, sanctuary, or shelter to visit, give walks, treats, Reiki treatments/massages, show L♥VE! I love the Macy's T-Day parade (memories of my years living in NYC), and the Peanuts T-Day Special; but mostly with age has come the realization that my gratitude for being alive is best expressed through service. There are really wonderful people on this blog - wishing you all a wonderful day ♥.
Swastika is the town where Unity Valkyrie Mitford, the English Nazi labelled as 'Hitler's girlfriend' by the London press, was conceived.
Unity Mitford's sister Diana later married Sir Oswald Mosley, leader of the British Union of Fascists; Unity also joined the BUF and subsequently visited Germany, becoming friends with Hitler. The Fuhrer who thought it was Fate that this 'English rose' was not only conceived in a place called 'Swastika' but had the Germanic 'Valkyrie' as a second name.
In later discussions between the two it also emerged that Unity's grandfather had translated the writings of English racial theorist Houston Stewart Chamberlain into German... writings which had played a strong formative influence on the development of Hitler's own racialist ideas. oo-ee-oo etc.
I would greatly like it if Squeaky turned out to have been born in Manson, WA, and that her grandfather manufactured the equipment which Charlie's family used to make moonshine (or whatever they did). This would create a great parallel with the Unity/Hitler story, and would give purpose to my otherwise irrelevant sharing of useless Nazi-related factoids (see above).
A next-door suburb has both a "Manson Avenue" & "Sadie Avenue", not too far away from one another. I'd seen Manson Avenue, but only noticed the Sadie Avenue street sign the other day.
