Over The Hill And Through The Woods To Spahn's Ranch we go!

My dearest readers, an opportunity of a lifetime has arisen from the greater depths of Los Angeles real estate! How would you like to be in the vicinity of the old Spahn's Movie Ranch? Spahn's is practically in the back yard (well, over a giant, rocky hill, that is) of this gorgeous, one-of-a-kind place. This property can be YOURS for only a measly sum of a cool $1,995,000!! The property's back yard is actually across the railroad tracks from Shorty Shea's old burial site. Just think of all the exploring you could do, if you were to purchase this beautiful place. Hell, if I didn't live in an-already beautiful place (Austin), I would leap at the chance to own this! Well, that, and if I had an extra million in the bank. The actual address of this groovy, little "ranchette" is at 11001 Farralone Avenue in Chatsworth. (Do NOT bother the realtor, unless, of course, you have the money.) As I already stated, Spahn's Ranch is right over the hill in the back of the place. Eviliz team ASSEMBLE! Let us all put our money together, buy this joint, and make our own commune! Just kidding.
Enjoy some photos:

  4. Pretty cheap for LA standards. if this house was on the west canyon side (Topanga) it'd be double. I'd rather spend 2 million and buy 5,000 acres of desert wasteland.

  6. I think it is 6.48 acres with a 3 bedroom/2 bath house. The house has a pool too. I like the property a lot. That backyard would be perfect for a hammock. I hope a developer doesn't get a hold of the place, and make more condos or a strip shopping center. That seems to happen everywhere there is vacant land, or pretty land. I know it has happened here, in Austin EVERYWHERE.

  7. I live in Amador County, CA. For $1,995,000 I could probably buy 40 acres with a mansion on it in the beautiful Sierra Foothills, a little over a one hour drive from Lake Tahoe and Carson City and still have 4 or five hundred thousand bucks left over.....
I'd probably take a couple hundred thousand of the left over cash and start a business that could at least break even that could employ a lot people. I'd put the rest in the bank.
Yes, I often dream about winning the lottery.....

  10. I would like to know why they are asking so much money for this property? I mean, it is beautiful, no doubt, has lots of trees, and rocky hills in the back, but asking over a million? For all of our California residents, particularily Los Angeles county residents, is that a normal price range for the valley?

  12. Does anyone know if there are plans to sell off the plot where Spahn was? If not now, I imagine there will come a day when that the area gets developed into something (a strip mall perhaps?).

  13. mrgroove Spahn Ranch is now a part of Santa Susana Pass State Historic Park. I don't think that the entire ranch was included, maybe someone else here knows the answer to that.

  14. Thanks Deb! I don't live too far from it. I'll have to check it out again - it's been about 6 years.

  15. I hope those damn real estate developers don't get their greedy paws on anything down that way. I know here, in Austin, they have overdeveloped everywhere! As we all know, the world needs more golf courses, strip shopping centers, condos, and ugly tract housing developments!

  16. Speaking of Spahn Ranch, someone told me something really creepy about that place. I don't know how true this is, but if it is.....well, that will have to be in another posting....Someone told me that there is a friend of the blog that trespasses out at Spahns all the time, and there has been times that this person HEARD singing coming from somewhere down by the creek. I am talking about ghostly singing, as in girls singing. That gave me chills just thinking about it. Has anyone had similar experiences out there? Could it be some sort of residual haunting? OO-EE-OO

  17. There are weird echoes up there just like at Cielo, but with a church just across the street. He may have been hearing choir practice and not ghosts especially if he had just "burned". LOL

That being said, Patty remembers Michael Channels has some video where they are there and hear something weird. It was as scary on tape as it would have been in person.

    LOVE the ooEEoo.

  18. Well, the thing is, this person said they heard singing, as in weird, folk-Manson-type singing. It definitely was not from the church, because this person was out there late at night, and early, early morning, when the church would be empty. Geeeez! That gives me freakin chills thinking about that! Hey, speaking of spooky things, I wonder if it is really true about the guy who lives a few houses down from 10050 Cielo, claiming his house is haunted? Hasn't he stated, on numerous occasions that his house is haunted by Sharon, and Jay?

  19. Who is the listing agent and what his his/her phone number? I am a realtor too, in my day job, and could take prospective buyers to see it!

  21. Sue, I beg of you-don't let a developer get their hands on that place. It is so pretty the way it is. It would be a damn shame if they built an ugly condo there.
