The Face Of Evil

                                                             The Face Of Evil

"Good people do not need laws to tell them to act responsibly, while bad people will find a way around the laws."

               -Plato

"Because if we the storytellers don't do this, then the bad people will win."

              -Christiane Amanpour

LOS ANGELES, March 12, 1977 — Polish film director Roman Polanski, widower of murdered actress Sharon Tate, was free on bond today on charges of luring a 13-year-old girl to the home of Jack Nicholson under the pretext of photographing her, then drugging and raping her. Polanski, 43, was arrested by police to Beverly Wilshire Hotel Friday night following the incident Thursday night at Nicholson's Bel Air home. In addition to the rape charges, Polanski also was booked on suspicion of sodomy, child molestation and furnishing dangerous drugs to a minor. He was released on $2,500 bond pending his arraignment March 18.

He did what???

"We did photos with me drinking champagne," Geimer later told "GMA." "He was friendly and then right toward the end it got a little scary, and I realized, you know, he had some other intentions, and then I knew I was not where I should be. I just didn't quite know how to get myself out of there." Geimer said the other intentions became clear after Polanski offered her part of a Quaalude, which she took, then asked her to get into a Jacuzzi without her underwear. He took pictures of her in the Jacuzzi naked, before taking off his clothes and joining her in the water, she said.

And then....

"A grand jury has indicted Roman Polanski, director of "Rosemary's Baby" and other macabre movies, on six counts of drugging and raping a 13-year-old girl at actor Jack Nicholson's home."

And then...

"Film director Roman Polanski arrived at his Paris apartment yesterday (after a stop in London) having fled the United States just hours before he was to have been sentenced in a California court for his admitted unlawful sexual relations with a 13-year-old girl last March. Polanski, 44, a French citizen, was said by friends to be exhausted by the 42 days he spent undergoing psychiatric tests."

And then Roman explains why this is such a big deal in his own words....

" When I was being driven to the police station from the hotel, the car radio was already talking about it. The newsmen were calling the police before I was arrested to see whether they can break the news. I couldn't believe… I thought, you know, I was going to wake up from it. I realise, if I have killed somebody, it wouldn't have had so much appeal to the press, you see? But… fucking, you see, and the young girls. Judges want to fuck young girls. Juries want to fuck young girls – everyone wants to fuck young girls! No, I knew then, this is going to be another big, big thing."

Hmmmm. Maybe it was a mistake? Never heard Roman had a thing for young girls....

"Samantha Geimer Not the Only Teenager Roman Polanski Sexually Exploited. Oscar-Winning Director Forced 16-Year-Old Charlotte Lewis to Have Sex with Him in Exchange for Movie Role. Roman Polanski's child rape victim Samantha Geimer was not the only teenager Oscar-winning movie director sexually exploited. Actress Charlotte Lewis gave a statement to the Los Angeles County district attorney in May 2010 detailing her sexual exploitation by Polanski when she was a 16-year-old seeking a part in his 1986 movie Pirates."

" Between Polanski's rape of Geimer in 1977 and his sexual blackmail of Lewis in the mid-1980s, he began an affair with the teenage actress Nastassja Kinski in 1975. Kinski was all of fourteen. When he fled California rather than face a possible jail sentence for his statutory rape conviction, he wound in France in the arms of Kinski. At seventeen, she had finally crossed the bourne of the age of consent (16 in most of Western Europe)."

Now when a grown man gives drugs to, and/or forces-has sex with underage girls in Southern California in our little circle- we normally think of our favorite " Most Evil Man on the Planet"- Charlie Manson. But again- like I always say- smart people should have seen him coming. It is the ones you don't suspect that end up being capable of the unspeakable who really spook me. Roman left his very pregnant wife alone with a guy he knew surrounded himself with trouble. He laughed and made jokes during the interrogation when the authorities were trying to help him find Sharon's killers. He bragged about cheating on her, and acted like an arrogant prick at every chance he got with no regard for her memory or name. He committed some very heinous crimes himself and then fled when it came time to answer for them. If that wasn't enough of an insult- he made smirky comments about the entire episode and more or less flipped us the bird and told us as an " Artist" he is above us and our system. So it seems- he himself has ruled on himself. Roman didnt like the way things were going so Roman decided to end the process on his own terms. He seems to be something of a child predator in addition to one of the worst husbands on record. Lots to like about this guy huh?

And finally, I add one last thing he shares in common with Charlie Manson in addition to the underage girl/drug lustination....

A group of people who blindly support him for reasons which have nothing to do with the crimes he has committed. There are a group of people in our society who  feel his hard past and his talents/contributions in whatever area give him carte blanche with our children and our laws. Obviously I am not one of them. To me there are certain lines we don't cross and once we have there is no lifetime credit to be taken into consideration. When you force yourself on a child, or take advantage of one by giving them drugs or using blackmail to violate them- you have to go down. Making excuses for guys like this and Charlie is the same misguided idea to me. Why not find people who do the same things or have the same values and talents- who haven't hurt others? Be it helping the environment or making semi-decent movies, I promise you there are people out there you can throw your support behind who wouldn't give drugs and force themselves on a 14 or 15 year old girl. Both of these guys have shown the willingness to do just that. If you chose to support people like this then you must own it. I don't want to hear about the good ideas they have or the work they have done. Again- plenty of people do the same and never hurt others....

It is a choice we all have to make. What is right and what is wrong? Who deserves your support and who/what do you want to stand for???

To me it is the easiest choice on Earth. Roman and Charlie are about the same thing to me. Seriously. Take away the movies Roman directed, and the gunshot to Crowe's belly Charlie fired, and their nature's are actually very similar. Neither one of them killed Sharon, but they both share some responsibility as well in my line of thinking. If it were up to me they would sit side by side in the same clink for the rest of what they have left of life. What a great conversation that would make lol....

And what a great post!!

  1. I could not agree more. I am so disgusted by the people who defend him. He had anal sex with a 13 year old girl! Was she even totally through puberty? I understand men often like younger women but she was a CHILD. Polanski makes me sick, and of course Hollywood defends him. SO sad and gross.

  2. That is the only thing that bothers me about Debra Tate. She is supposed to be a victims advocate, then turns around and defends RP in interviews, and even flew to Europe a few years ago to give support to him during a hearing. She was photographed holding hands with Mia Farrow, and Polanski's wife, Emmanuell Seigner during the court hearings over this rape. That is being a hypocrite! I love that she goes to parole hearings of her sister's killers, and fights to keep them behind bars, but then turning around, and advocating for a molester is just plain hypocritical! Hey, I love his movies, especially "Le Locataire" but I don't like his creepy, frog desire for sodomizing teens!

  3. Don't want anyone to think I am defending his actions with underage girls, as I am not, repeat not doing that.

But I don't know if there is any evidence of this before Sharon's murder. And while yes, Roman was a bad husband to Sharon, he really only left her alone with Voy for a very short time as she had been gone since March and Roman was due back in just a few days as well. So I do not blame him for Sharon's murder because I don't believe he ever thought she was in any danger, despite what all Voy might have had going with MDA, etc. Even the mafia guys never think they're gonna get whacked.

  4. Hey Starship!!

I dont blame him for her murder either, but feel he does share some responsibility. He has said himself he knew voytek was trouble.

So when you know better and you don't do better and then something bad happens...

Does that not equal a little blame?

Noe here is a guy who let he extremely pregnant wife sail transatlantic without him -to go home to people he did not trust. had I done the same-and something bad happened I would be living with guilt and shame for the rest of my life....

I think he should feel a little of that as well- maybe he does. if so- in my opinion it is deserved.

As far as when he started to go after younger children- does it matter????

if he became that type of monster after her death- I still don't give him any kind of pass.

He made jokes during the investigation and interrogation- so it wasn't like the crime made him into anything. He seemed to be o.k. when he was laughing to the polygraph examiner....

I understand you aren't defending him

however to point out he did those things after her death doesn't make it o.k does it? unless your saying his behavior was a result of the crimes- which I am not sure I agree with...

But hey your allowed your opinion, I always welcome it! especially yours :)

Those passages in Restless Souls really made me hate him.

  6. Mia Farrow is also a hypocrite if she showed her support for Roman. She hates what Woody Allen did, but when Roman does the same thing, she's OK with it.

  7. @St Circumstance ,your saying/thinking :,,I dont blame him for her murder either, but feel he does share some responsibility. He has said himself he knew Voytek was trouble,,
With that piont of view ,the killers came for Voytek.Because of his shady bussiness,Bad drugs sold ?? But if that was so,.....wouldnt it be a perfect , Case closed ,with a crystal clear motive ?? Solved by LAPD easily....

  8. Hello Hellz...

A pleasure to meet you :)

I am not necessarily saying that Voytek was the reason for the intrusion... ( Although it is possible until we know for sure)

I am saying that Roman had a bad feeling about the guy and let his wife stay around him anyway...

If I were in his shoes- I would feel some guilt and blame.

I have no idea if Roman being present in that house would have made any difference at all. But his first responsibility should have been to his family, and if anything at all could have been done- at least he would have had a chance to help her.

If he felt that there was even a 1% chance that Sharon was in the wrong place with the wrong people- he should have done something about it.

The fact that he himself made those comments about Voytek after the fact says he had some idea it wasn't a good idea for Sharon to be around him...

there are times when you have to leave your wife to make the dough which supports her. I submit months 8 and 9 of her pregnancy are NOT one of those times.

when you add that to the fact that he laughed and played games during his polygraph and interrogation, even going so far as to brag about cheating on her....

I see a guy who really cared more about himself than his wife and I think if there is any small percentage that contributed in any way at all to her death-

then he should be forced to suck a rabbit penis for the rest of his life....

Remind me sometime to tell you guys my rabbit penis story- that wasn't just some random choice of words lol

  9. Abigail and Voytek had their own home, didn't they? I'll never understand why they didn't leave Cielo once Sharon came back from Europe.

  10. He's a disgusting person period. I'm so sick of people defending celebrities just because they are famous. He should've been locked up & no one should pay to see his films. Anyone who defends his actions with that girl should think about their children or what if they were 13, drugged & raped & then for the entire world to know about it.

  11. roman was also happy when sharon left london because he could "see some girls."

  12. AustinAnn, me too! I always feel bad for Debra and I hate it when people comment on her weight, etc but her support of Roman moves her down several notches in my book.
I would never call myself a feminist but I HATE how Roman has treated women. What did Sharon see in him?

  13. Heidi- If I may cut in-

Between Jay and Roman she seemed to have a thing for guys of a certain size....

my first thought is that she should have gone after more classic tall, traditionally handsome guys, BUT maybe it says something about her she didn't care about things like that?

Definitely both of them had issues, and a darker side to them- maybe that is what drew her?

certainly they were both successful and sometimes even mediocre guys can get great women with the projection of confidence ( that always worked for me)

But I always have wondered about her taste in men...

Since Ann posted about Debras support- I have been wondering about that. Why the loyalty?

just a total guess out of the blue- but I wonder if there was any financial support or anything like that she or the family got from Roman expo facto which is the cause of her not blowing him up publicly the way I try to here???

    It is hard to tell...

  14. Wasn't there a rumor that Debra had slept with Roman at some point? Does anyone remember?

  15. What made me believe in Samantha was in the grand jury transcript, she told how Polanski as he was raping her, demended to know when her last period was and when she couldn't remember said the following: "Would youwant I should go in through your back?" (ie sodomize her). This sort of Eastern European way of talking: would a 13-year-old be able to come up with that so accurately? It was just so authentic and enough to show she's telling the truth.

BTW, she said "No" but he did it anyway. The transcript is on the Smoking Gun website.

What a cocksucker that man is. Oh no, he isn't that, is he. What a rapist that man is.

And "I din't know she was 13". So what? If she'd been 18, it would still have been as vile. God, it's a horrible story. You can see how scared and overwhelmed she is, all alone with him, following her into the swimming pool, stark naked, forcing oral sex on her, rape, sodomy…

And the lie detector after Sharon…interesting how Bug misses out most of that. Such as the "No, I fucked them" comment about the air hostesses. And how about him teasing the operator at the start, lying on purpose and laughing about it and at the end, jauntily lighting a smoke and waving goodbye…

What kind of a dad would he have been? Any bets on what might have happened if Sharon had later borne a girl? A pretty little thing who turns 13 one fine day…I wouldn't ever put it past him.
