As promised in his article about Charles Manson, psychologist Paul Mountjoy has written an article about Tex Watson. Unfortunately I didn't see any secrets being revealed, it pretty much read like the same old stuff we've been treated to ad nauseum over the years. You be the judge.http://communities.washingtontimes.com/neighborhood/steps-authentic-happiness-positive-psychology/2013/mar/17/charles-manson-vs-charles-watson/
"Watson says Manson fed the family members large amounts of methamphetamines, among other drugs, daily."
ReplyDelete"Manson targeted the Tate residence because he believed Doris Day’s son lived there."
"Watson agreed with my comment that in history, he is the horse and Manson is Paul Revere. Watson did all the gory ‘work’ at Manson’s behest, but Watson is a footnote. Manson is a headline."
------------------
Oh, brother....
I didn't know Manson was ever in Pelican Bay or Alcatraz. I also wasn't aware that Manson fed his "family" meth all the time. I thought it was LSD. Of course, I wouldn't know that for sure. What about Watson's use of belladonna? That would poach your brain worse than any kind of acid ever would. On a different note, giving Rosemary LaBianca's daughter any kind of credence is a laugh. She is as loony as Manson, and Watson. I don't care how many damn drugs you ingest, a "normal" all-American-country-boy" as Watson liked to call himself would not have done the things he did without having a major screw loose underneath the hood.(Remember the crime scene photos?) I have never believed that Watson was remorseful. I think he is remorseful, and regretful that he was caught, and imprisoned for life. He could care less about his MANY victims. Prison didn't stop him from marrying, getting laid (again), and procreating. Oh! The author stated that there is no proof that Manson ever killed anyone-WHAT about Shorty Shea? Wasn't Manson in the group that gang-stabbed Shea? What does the author consider that? Assault?
ReplyDelete"Watson then was imprisoned for an unrelated crime and told fellow inmates of the family crimes."
ReplyDeleteI think that the author has Atkins and Watson confused.
Or did Watson do this?
Btw, I am curious about something that others might have answers to in regards to what Family members in prison kept in touch with other Family members in prison. I remember reading on another blog that Bruce Davis and Susan Atkins actually fell in love with each other via mail correspondence or something like that? And I have read about how Pat and Leslie didn't have much to do with Susan even while being in the same prison. Don't mean to get sidetracked from this thread, but is there a link that has been posted about that type of info.?
ReplyDeleteProf, All of that stuff was described on a great website that died along with its author a few years ago.
ReplyDeleteI wish the guy who has the site files now would share it :)
I think that the writer may have read the Cliff's Notes version of Helter Skelter and decided to write an article that would appeal to all other Cliff' Notes readers of this world.
ReplyDeleteI know no one really hung out with Manson in prison from what I know except for Como beating him up at Folsom. Bobby and Clem had the band in Tracy. Also Bobby claims to have told Clem to reveal Shorty's grave. Bruce and Tex where in the prison ministry at St. Luis Mens Colony and I think Tex was at Bruces wedding. Also Bernard Crow was in the ministry. Think Tex mentioned that in his book.

ReplyDeleteMarc, interesting info, thanks. Just for the sake of accuracy, it's San Luis Obispo Men's Colony. Gotta stick up for my neighbors! ;-). (I'm 5 miles from there ; see it every day)
ReplyDelete"Watson agreed with my comment that in history, he is the horse and Manson is Paul Revere. Watson did all the gory ‘work’ at Manson’s behest, but Watson is a footnote. Manson is a headline."
ReplyDeleteOf COURSE he agrees with that. Christ.
Not the best couple of articles, but thanks for sharing anyway.
LOL, Leigh. We too find it amusing that we bloggers know worlds more about subject matter than the published writers!
ReplyDeleteMatt, I sincerely wish they'd approach you - or any number of other learned bloggers - to write the next Manson piece they decide to commission in hopes of getting a few more page views. At least then readers might get something fresh and thoroughly researched.
ReplyDeleteThey do contact us, Leigh (not the writer of this article, though) and pick our brains. Then they just write the same old line of crap.

ReplyDeleteI didn't know Manson was ever in Pelican Bay
In March 1997 Manson was charged with "conspiracy to distribute narcotics" and transferred to Pelican Bay State Prison in Crescent City, California. After serving 14 months he was transferred back to PHU at Corcoran. It mentions this in "Taming the Beast".
Austin Ann, Manson was never at Alcatraz as a prisoner. You can search the Alcatraz Prisoner Index for free at-

I did and he wasn't listed.
I thought that sounded sort of weird, when I read that he was in Alcatraz. Thanks for the info! Didn't know about Pelican Bay either. I am by far, no expert.
DeleteWhat on earth? This is a professional?
ReplyDeletehe was caught via a singular fingerprint on a doorknob after Susan Atkins. Watson then was imprisoned for an unrelated crime and told fellow inmates of the family crimes.
That sentence hasn't even been proofread. After Susan Atkins what? If any of my students wrote something as bad as this I would fling it at their heads, no joke.
There isn't much new because the subjects of my article have been in a cage for over 40 years.
ReplyDeleteHowever, I suggested Manson and Watson-one s a psychopath and the other a sociopath. Can readers, if read deeply enough, discern which is which?
Additionally, no one knew Manson went back to the Tate home and hung Sharon on a rafter post-murders and no one knew Watson is the bio-clean up guy at his prison-which explains a lot of him.
