A Psychologist Interviews and Speaks Out on Charles Manson

current.com

A Virginia based psychologist, Paul Mountjoy, landed an interview with Manson.  His goal was to try to determine which psychological disorders fit Manson's personality.

In an upcoming article at the publication Mountjoy  will share some insight on Tex, who he says revealed a secret.

"According to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders V- TR, (DSM-V- TR) the criteria used by mental health professionals, those with Anti-Social Personality Disorder (ASPD) are skilled at hiding their disorder and seem outwardly friendly and accommodating. They are skilled at verbal manipulation and can escape detection for years, even for life. They may appear normal and charming but they are devoid of compassion and sympathy and do not relate to pain, suffering and hurt experienced by others. They truly could not care less."

  1. Interesting article. But, I thought that Manson's comment of, "She got old on me." was in reference to Patricia Krenwrinkle, not Susan. Am I misremembering?

  2. I remember it that way too, Prof.

  3. No, he was looking at footage of an interview of Lynette Fromme, and she did not look terribly old in the footage, but her hair was no longer red. I will try to locate it on Youtube. I was surprised that he was allowed to watch it.

  4. Charlie may have watched the You Tube clip on his cell phone, no permission needed.

  5. There was a quote Charlie said about Susan after she died in a magazine about how she gave her life to atwa and never dies and is an angel. That was nice on his part.

  6. I don't know about this article. Nothing he quotes here is new. I know Manson repeats himself a lot, but most of this seems like this guy read a bunch of interviews and articles and then wrote this.

I also remembered seeing it but it took a Google search and found it on the Truth on Tate site.

It was a Diane Sawyer interview "Breaking Free of Charles Manson" link at:

  10. I don't think Manson has any specific mental disorder. He has problems like telling everyone what they want to hear. He likes to play himself up, but not too far. He likes to take credit for things, but leaving the person to fill in the blanks. Manson plays people. "All them people that thought they played me, they will find out that they got played."

He's in prison, that is typical inmate behaviour. Manson gives people what they want, plays the person we want, and in turn we appease him, make him feel like a celebrity and then send him commissary.

For instance, when I talk to him he speaks endlessly about Native Ameican culture (which he knows an awful lot about) because I am a native with very well known Native ancestors. My buddy is Scottish, and he gives him the Scottish Manson. My other buddy is Irish and Manson gives him the Irish Manson. He gave people like Stimson the WP Manson, and so on.

In short, people waste their time trying to sum him up because 75% of it is an act and a game.

  12. Tex is just filled with secrets these days...

guess this guy and the tapes will sort it all out for us

    :)

I would be more interested in what mental disorders Tex can be given credit for....

Charlie is pretty easy to figure out if you ask me.( or even if you dont) A career petty criminal- got out of jail and continued to be a career petty criminal.

the Psychology behind middle class kids with decent backgrounds stabbing people a gazillion times is much more fascinating...

    no?

That thumb nail of Manson's is creeping me OUT!
Don't know if its for guitar playing or what but it is gross. Not a fan of the long nails.

Where can this be found, Lauren? I am interested in reading it!

  17. Heidi- Had to zoom in to see that thumbnail and sorry I did LOL! Being that it's his left thumb that would be the hand that is used to finger the fret board of a guitar and long nails are actually a hinderence in that respect. It is the picking hand (right for right handed people) that some players grow their nails to pick.

You suppose the family had nail clippers at Spahn or Barker?

  18. Sorry, Sun King. It's true I know very little about the guitar but I have known my share of dirtbags who use guitar playing as an excuse to grow out some nasty ass claws.
