This man interests me, now. It's really interesting how he looked like a seemingly innocent teenager, getting mixed up with the Hawthorne incident by proxy. Then there are the rumors (what book was that printed in- I forget) that Larry was also present with Vance at the Shea killing. However, Larry went on to be a very violent man. My interest is if he always had this in him, or if his days with Manson changed his tune.

I think he doesn't mention Manson to sound like he was really trying to liberate true "political prisoners." Really, in that time it would be a lot easier to call Manson one because he was obviously subjected to unfair press, slandering, and absurd accusations. However, now, if he wants any validity (to his people) to his exploits he's better off leaving Manson out.
But, he did the shootout with Como, and he was linked with the Siombanese (msp) Liberation and the article I posted above said Larry was as well.
I know in the 70s there was accusations that the Siombanese Liberation Army was trying to free Manson, but it turned out they were trying to free Geronimo Ji Jagga.
That was about the time Como tried to escape in the same fashion George Jackson. Ironically, the Hawthorne Shootout was supposed to be based on how George's little brother tried to get him out (though he was killed along with jurors, the DA, etc).
Jonathan Jackson and other Panthers heisted guns and stormed the courtroom during George's trial and took him and other hostages.
When the Symbionese Liberation Army kidnapped Patty Hearst they demanded that the Hearst Family give way two million dollars worth of food. The program was called "People in Need" and it was Sara Jane Moore an accountant and political radical in the San Francisco Bay Area who headed up the program for the Hearst family.
Nice one guys! You wouldn't happen to have a larger version you could post up, would you? There are lots of little details that my detail-oriented eyes would like to scrutinize, heh heh.

Larry was my neighbor for many years. I am one year older than he is and had a short term crush on him. He was a sweet, quiet guy. He has 3 younger brothers, two of whom are dead. My Dad would take us all to church when we were young. His Dad was a military lifer. Very hard on his boys, and that's putting it mildly. I really liked him.

How many years did he serve for the Hawthorne shoot out ? And who was Larry Giddings again? Was he the guy who looked "too black" for Charlie?

I believe he did 5 years for Hawthorne. He got popped again later for something really violent & did time again.
