"Purple prose is a term of literary criticism used to describe passages, or sometimes entire literary works, written in prose so extravagant, ornate, or flowery as to break the flow and draw attention to itself. Purple prose is sensually evocative beyond the requirements of its context. It also refers to writing that employs certain rhetorical effects such as exaggerated sentiment or pathos in an attempt to manipulate a reader's response." wikipedia
It would be tough to find anything more purple than this story in the written works about the Manson Family. Surprisingly, it is fairly accurate aside from the style of writing. My favorite is the description of Manson as "a raunchy, runty, renegade".

Cool stuff. Patty has never seen that photo of Ronnie before.
The Grump has never seen that pic of Col Tate before.
I sure miss those old true detective type magazines. They don't seem to be printed in the states anymore.
My Grandmother used to have tons of detective magazines & I used to sneak to read them. I guess it's what got me interested in true crime at such a young age. RIP Grandma Maw Maw.
