Matthew Roberts DNA Test

Photo from insideedition.com

Here's something that seems to have slipped by unnoticed.  In an effort to verify whether or not Matthew Roberts is indeed Charles Manson's son CNN did a DNA test on Roberts by comparing his DNA to Manson's alledged grandson, cage fighter Jason Freeman.  To both men's surprise there was no DNA match between the two.

Read the story here-

In an effort to try to understand why Robert's or anyone else claiming to be related to Manson couldn't just petition the State of California to be allowed to do DNA comparisons from what is in the prison system records I learned that Manson, as well as any of the others convicted in the "Manson Murders" most likely do not have their DNA on record.

I found this document regarding the collection of DNA from California inmates. It is widely assumed that because a person is imprisoned for a felony crime that his DNA is automatically taken and entered into a database. After reading this document I do not believe this is the case. It seems that the law requiring the DNA collection is not retroactive but only applies to those arrested after a certain date. Here is a quote from the document--

" Collection of DNA samples from an adult arrested for a felony offense must be based solely upon the offense that was the basis for the arrest.

The January 1, 2009, provisions governing DNA sample collection from adults arrested for any felony offense are not retroactive and so do not permit collection for arrests that took place prior to 2009"

Here is a link to the document so that you can study it yourself and see if I have reached the proper conclusion. It is a five page pdf.

  1. Nice that this matter can finally be put to rest but too bad it still leaves Matthew Roberts hanging as far as who his father is.

  2. So if someones DNA is not already on file, it can't be collected in the investigation of a cold case? Patty'd better go and read this.

  3. Patty it doesn't seem so. Perhaps if there were a compelling reason with hard evidence it might be possible. The law regarding DNA collection could be a major reason why Manson did not offer his own DNA to give Matthew the answer to his paternity. That in itself is rather telling to me, could Manson be afraid that once his DNA is taken and entered into databases it would be found at other crime scenes? The same goes for the other Family members that were convicted. We can only hope that the Tex tapes will be released and be able to give law enforcement good reason to collect DNA from everyone imprisoned now.

  4. They ought to compare his DNA with Judd Nelson's DNA.

  6. yes Doc Matthew does resemble JUDd NElson so if MAtthew is after living on the coatails of some "star" IM sure he would have mentioned JUdd Nelson an acclaimed actor not Charles MAnson- a what is he now?- to be a possible father

  7. It would be funny if Manson's grandson was not his true grandson and matthew was his real son...

  9. This guy Practices at the same Music studio as my band. Its called Amp Rehersal Studios in North Hollywood located on Lankershim. I walked by him once and I knew it was him, a month later there he was at the front desk standing next to me. He was short wearing a snake skin cowboy hat. He had the blackest eyes I have ever seen. Plus he was short as hell. The first words that came out of my mouth were "did you ever get that DNA test done?" as if I had met him before and though shy he did engage a conversation with me. I told him how I was adopted and not knowing your past leaves quite the void. I wished him well in his search. Havent seen him since, but I havent been practicing as much lately. After meeting him, I was convinced it was Manson's son.

  10. How hard would it be for Manson to stick a single hair in a letter, or pass it off to Star when she hugs him? So even tho the State may not be willing to run a test, at least Matthew would be able to have the test done privately, to satisfy his own need to know where he came from. Everyone needs to know their origins, even when the answer is not a joyful one, there is relief in knowing your roots. Not knowing must be akin to feeling lost, or incomplete, your whole life long!

  11. Katarina-- it would be cool if Charlie even accidentally deposited some of his hair into a letter to Matthew, but at least 1 hair follicle would have to include the root for DNA to be extracted. Other than that I don't see any other way for Matthew to get a sample of Charlie's DNA if the penal system doesn't allow it.

  13. Yet, Matthew Roberts continues to pose as Manson's son. Fame seeker. It's so stupid if you read articles that he and Jason Freeman both seek fame and fortune. Fame and fortune? One is a musician and the other is a wrestler. No, they do things that they enjoy. Fame and fortune is another train to ride on. That train is being ridden by MR as he is a fame seeker - posing as a murderer's offspring. Pathetic. He's NOT your father dude, get over it!

    1. AMEN! CNN did DNA tests on Matthew in 2012 and CONFIRMED that Manson is NOT his father! Yet, now that Charles is dead, he's still running around telling everyone he's his son. I wish CNN would go live with the results again, and shut that fool up! Oh and Jason only fights as a fun pastime. He works on an oil rig as a full time job.

  14. my mom studied the manson case a lot and it was charles watson who did the killings at the tate house. on another note. charles manson's father may have been charles lindburg who used to go to the air force base where watsons mother lived in that town and she said his father was maddox...well that is the name of one of lindburgs relatives so he may have used a pseudo name when he got charles mansons mother pregnant. also lindburgh used a lot of disguises when he went out in public.

  15. I don't understand why this guy is still walking around calling himself Manson's son, when the DNA tests proved that he isn't. And now he's fighting for Manson's estate? Classic case of someone looking for fame and fortune when they don't have any claim to it. Really sad and pathetic.

  16. Barbara, I think it's simple. Jason Freeman is not Charles Manson's biological grandson. They need to do a DNA comparison between Roberts and Charles Manson. Not that I think Roberts will come up as a match. Thankfully, a judge has recently ordered that Jason Freeman take the DNA test. Something he has so far declined to do for some reason ...

  17. Yes yes yes. Freeman I believe is not related to Manson that’s why doesn’t match. Matthew Roberts needs to be test against Manson himself not Freeman. I believe Matthew Roberts is 99% Manson son.
