This is an article written by Emmons on Manson a few years before the book came out. It tells of Manson getting a job in prison. I really got a good chuckle out of the quote from Manson.

Inner Institution Parole!?!?!
Nuel Emmons who wrote "Manson In his Own Words" worked as a correspondent for the Ukiah Daily Journal mostly writing articles in the sports section on golf. He was an avid golfer. Later after his book on Manson came out he had a regular column in the UDJ about the happenings in and around the town of Nice in Lake county where he lived with his family.

Johnny, is this when your dad spotted him sweeping?
Deb, did you know him?
this is when he got caught with the bag of weed and a hacksaw blade hidden in the chappel
Bing, thanks for reminding me about that. I'll post that story tomorrow...
Completely random but I saw the family guy episode where Peter says "boy I haven't been to California since I lived with my other family" and it shows Spahn ranch and Charlie and a few girls and Peter goes in and goes "guys I got invited to a party at Sharon Tates house you can come but you can't embarass me" hilarious!!
*you gotta promise not to embarass me*
Patty, no I did not know Emmons and was completely surprised to learn he lived and worked in the area. Emmons was born in Oklahoma but as a very young child moved with his parents to Richmond CA, in the SF Bay Area, where he was raised. He moved to Nice in the late '60's and had an auto body repair business that was the bread and butter for his family. Being a journalist was his dream but it didn't pay the bills.
A link with Emmons obit-

Thanks Deb!
@Lauren: That's funny! Do you know if that episode of Family Guy is online anywhere? Maybe You Tube?
there is an episode of family guy where stewie has a bullied tied up in the basement and Lois asks if the kids are playing house and stewie responds saying "roman polanski's house"
@Bing and @Lauren - that's totally sick but funny!
All the episodes of Family Guy are on Netflix Instant Play. My son laughed at the Roman Polanski joke the other night, I asked him what it meant and he had no idea. GOOD!
I recently spoke to my father about that incident, when he yelled at Manson about knowing anything about "Ukiah in 1968".Daddy said that Charlie said," you'll never know, will you? " That definitely happened in Vacaville. Probably around the same time as this.
