Hi Liz,
I'm finally getting back to you regarding Sandy. Apparently she does keep in contact with Manson.
This last week he received a letter from her & she as well sent him $600.
I was told she's no longer with George XXX & her return address was in Florida.... He couldn't remember what city or town.
He also said she's the only one from the originals that keeps in touch.

Florida....
Sighhhhh
Here we go again
Sandy - you wanna talk- give me a shout. You have anything you want to say???
I am always respectful and polite to my elders....
:)
plus I bring beer....
LOL, ST.
You'd have to share the interview with me, though. This one would be the opportunity of a lifetime.
Sandy is no drinker, though. You'll have to bring something else...
Hey guys, this is one I would sit out. Sandy has never held any interest to me. She is one strident, humorless soul.
You guys heard any updates on Johnny U.? I have to confess that I have zero faith in that detective getting back to Johnny or being of any real help. I know that sounds cynical but my experience is that most cops, while good guys, like to keep the job from devouring them and so as such don't have the obsession needed to solve 35-year old murders.
I just think Johnny would be better served trying to hook up with a writer in the area, or some lawyer looking to make a name, or even a local politician.
The thing with the Ukiah murders or any cold case is that you have to put together a team that will PUSH PUSH PUSH. If you don't have that your odds are really long.
Any update on the Tex tapes? Are we still waiting on a judge ruling?
the $600 that Sandy sent Manson???
Is this validation that Manson has no personal wealth? For some reason I thought Charlie might be getting bucks from some form of Manson related revenue - music or t-shirts or something.
Hmm, so does this mean Squeaky no longer associates with Manson? I remember with that whole Wal-Mart thing she had a "Born-again Pagan" bumper sticker, maybe she went into that?
Charlie has no personal wealth, and any money sent to him is put in a canteen fund he can use to buy things at the prison commissary.
Tex Tapes are in the hands of lawyers...
If Johnny or Deb S are not hearing anything from the authorities- then maybe it is time to re-engage on a louder scale...
remember- There will be a few concerned parties out there this Spring.
Maybe we need to add a trip to Ukiah for some answers to the agenda???
thanks for the info Saint.
tapes in hands of lawyers? which lawyers - the LAPD and the bankrupt lawyers? sorry, I just get confused on this story.
I find it interesting, and a bit surprising, that Charlie has no personal wealth. I suspect he is prohibited from profiting by selling his story, but I wonder if that extends to his art and artifacts etc. Hell, if he just went public with a plea for funds from his "admirers" he'd probably raise serious bucks. Am I wrong there?
and I do believe that a "cold case" murder investigation has to be run like a political campaign - you have to have a 'big picture' perspective, a solid ground game, available fundraising, a cohesive team strategy and so on.
The best example of my PUSH PUSH PUSH theory is the great film All The Presidents Men which chronicled the Watergate investigation by Woodward and Bernstien. That story could have and should have died a dozen deaths along the way but fortunately for us those two guys were equal parts obnoxious and obsessive. Then again, without Deep Throat they would have gotten doodly squat.
Well I am not an expert on this subject so Take my words with a grain of salt-
I am certain he cant profit from his crimes. People on the outside selling his trinkets and art probably can, but not sure who or how that works. I have read in several instances that Charlie does bot receive any money from those type of sales. I have also read he is limited to contributions to his prison canteen fund....
As far as the Tex tapes - here is the most recent update I am aware of from October :
In May, the bankruptcy court judge ruled that the LAPD should get the tapes because Watson waived his right to attorney-client privilege when he made them available to the co-author of his 1978 book "Will You Die for Me? The Man Who Killed for Charles Manson Tells His Own Story." The ruling by Judge Brenda Rhoades in effect supported Payne, who testified that she believed there was no reason not to give police the tapes.
Watson is appealing the decision, and Schell granted a stay until he can hear arguments from both sides. Attorneys for Watson and Payne are still preparing their briefs.
Well, there IS a writer right there in Mendocino to help, but J.U. must continue to call the detective.
Whatever happens, rest assured we'll make it a priority to let everyone know.
As far as the tapes, they are at the moment being legally wrangled over as ST points out.
Squeaky? I personally don't believe that she supports Manson any longer. That belief is based more in guesswork on my part based on what I have heard, rather than from anything she has said publicly. I 'think' she is working on writing a book. Her sis has connections in the publishing world and Lynette has one helluva story to tell - if she'll tell it.
Matt, ST, Deb, you guys are awesome.
Thank you for putting the Dulaney matter out there. I just know you guys will help ultimately to decide whether or not that whole thing was Manson-related or not.
When good people come together and work toward a goal good things tend to happen.
Hey Lauren!!!
matt..I'm not being difficult here, just curious, and I ask this with respect, but why are you convinced Lynette has a "helluva story" to tell? Do you think she would be willing to discuss 'untold' Manson Family shenanigans? Do you think Charlie confided in her about TLB, that he told her directly before his arrest that he did in fact order the murders and that she would be willing to go on record as saying so? Do you think her life in prison was remarkable in some way?
My interest in Lynette post Ford attempt would be if she maintained corespondance with Manson or any other Mansonites and was willing to share said communication.
Obviously we all have our personal preferences as to who we would most like to hear from at this stage. Yours may be Lynette, mine would be Mary. Or maybe Grogan.
I guess I am just skeptical how much public interest there remains in the Manson story. Would a new Fromme book sell? I heard that Stephanie S. was writing a book. How much insight would she have given her limited time with the Family? And we all have heard that Gypsy has a book but has never found a publisher.
I really should get off my lazy ass and call the publishers of Marlin M.'s book and Restless Souls to see how they have sold. maybe this week I can find the time.
Leary, as you say "we all have our personal preferences" about different aspects of this long and sordid tale.
My interest in things like motives, etc is secondary to my fascination with the Family and the dynamics that propelled them. I'd like to know what Charlie told her to do while she stayed in George Spahn's quarters. Why she guarded him and held onto everyone's ID's.
I want to know what she knew. And I think out of everybody, she knew the most. Nancy, too. CM trusted them. I just hope they spill before their deathbeds.
And please, you never have to ask anything "with respect". LOL. My skin is quite thick.
Just wanted to say that this blog is fascinating. Thank you!
you know Matt, they have something called the Q or something that rates celebrities in terms of how the public sees them - ranks them in honesty and trustworthiness and so on. I was reading about it recently in an article on Lance Armstrong that related how he now ranks like 2,84th in terms of trust and so on.
Anyways, your last post reminded me that I always wanted to do that in terms of Family members - rank them in terms of who knows the most, who is the most honest and so on. It would be interesting. Tex, of course, would come in last in everything.
yeah, sorry about the 'with respect' thing, that was lame. but for some reason I felt I might have pissed you and the Saint off recently. You know, being an obnoxious opinionated Irishman you always have to check the scoreboard.
Leary, when they get mad at me, I usually get an email to that effect! LOL!!! If you haven't gotten any I'd say yer fine!
i suspect that they might write to you, Suze, because you are much much more appealing than either Foghorn or I am.
Hey Suze! Wow so is she really writing a book? I find that hard to imagine seeing she knew so much and was in denial of a lot/ and tried to protect the family's image. She must have done a lot of therapy in prison.
I read somewhere (don't remember where) that she seemed to have "no interests" about anything. Never really did any therapy.
We'll never know for certain until she speaks up.
Good for her.
I wonder what she does for income.
Wow, it's as if she just snapped out of it!
I think Mary would be the one I'd want to hear from the most too. I don't think she knew the most, but she definitely was there a long time.
Leary-I watched a documentary once, I can't remember the name but it was about 2 guys(maybe 3 I can't remember) who were art dealers who dealt in art by murderers. They had a lot of Gacy stuff and only briefly mentioned Charlie. They hinted that even though the criminals weren't supposed to profit from their crimes from direct sales that they do alright. I don't know if they meant Charlie or someone else, but I think anyone can send money to a prisoners canteen fund, so they probably took some of the money they made selling the art and contributed it to the prisoners that way. Not sure, but sounds feasible.
As regard to royalities that would go to Manson from things like Guns 'N' Roses cover of Manson's song "Look at your Game Girl", it's my understanding he gets none of that. It was Jay Sebring's nephew? that sued Manson way back so that Manson would get nothing from such ventures. It's a thing that Jay's nephew would have to renew every so many years, and it is my understanding that he does so.
As to Blue being the only former Mansonite who is still in touch with him, I read somewhere (maybe this blog?, since I only follow this one and the Col's) that Cappy still visits Manson from time to time. I could certainly be wrong - I welcome any corrections.
Louis, you did here that here. The source is one that I believe in strongly. I do believe that Cappy stays in touch. It's just my understanding that it isn't regular. More like annual or so...
Does anyone know: Would Squeaky even be allowed to keep in touch with Manson...or would that be a violation of her parole?
Her parole is over. She can associate with anyone she pleases at this point.
Does anyone know whether Sandy's hair is naturally straight or frizzy? It usually looks nice and straight or wavy then, there's one video (I can't find it now) where it seems to have tight kinks in all directions. Her complexion looks different in that one too. This has me puzzled.
I wonder what Sandy thinks of Star.
I'd be curious to know what a lot of those girls think of things these days!!! Mr Stimson runs some type of nature/environmental blog I believe.
Are Red and Blue still in touch?
Leary7,no progress with the detective who's in charge of the murders. He told me he's working on a recent homicide and will get back to me later. I too don't have much faith in much happening taking that route. All of you guys, and gals, are great! Deb says she knows reporters and maybe she can get something going that way. Thanks, to all of you, for your interest and concern. I believe that if enough people ask enough questions eventually something will get done.
it seems you have a 'guardian angel' of sorts in DebS, JOhnny, so let's hope she can shake something loose. Your mom and grandmother deserve it. You too.

According to Star, before she stopped communicating with me, Charlie has very little money of his own.
From what I understand, there is no shortage of people donating money to his commissary account. I've sent him $300 myself.
rfoster may I ask why Star stopped communicating with you since you mentioned it?
I am not entirely certain, but I believe it was because I told her that I'm not into ATWA and my interest in Charlie was from a music/musician point of view.

Voytek's son gets all the roylties from GnR's cover. There is a copy of that paperwork floating around out there somewhere I will try to find it. Sebrings nephew does not get anything from it.

Charlie's lawyers smuggle out his artwork to Sandy who inturn sells the art and send Charlie some money from the deal. I also heard there was a recent riff between Sandy, George and Charlie because Sandy and George were keeping more $$ than Charlie liked.
I thought Voytek's son recently suicided?
voytek's son either was killed or committed suicide but he has a daughter who i believe receives the money. look her up she's quite the scandal in poland.
