  4. Politics aside I think he must have something new to add to the case the book runs over

  5. I think his stuff on Manson is good, but I HATE Nikolas. I think he's an opinionated dbag that is trying to make Manson into what he envisions him to be. Just calling him a shaman is laughable, even if it was supposed to be tongue-in-cheek. Manson did have some really brilliant ideas and ideologies, but he's no genius and Nikolas seems to have this following of Mansonites who see Manson as this genius shaman who can di no wrong and is "completely innocent of all charges against him," which he even admits he is not. \rantoff

  7. I couldn't have said it better myself, JC. Shaman isn't just laughable, it's hysterical. And this guy believes that handicapped people should be left to die - they are unfit and a drain on society.

As a Jewish buddy of mine says, "They aren't to be feared, there are HUNDREDS of them." LOL.

  9. The comments here are understandable due to the mostly 1980s era interview material through which most people know the Schrecks, but somewhat inaccurate.

I have spoken with Nikolas, anyone who believes he is a nazi or interested in making Manson into his own version of Manson Mania is overlooking reality.

Nikolas' book is correct- Manson is a shaman in the sense that his own often drug laced mystical beliefs would fit roughly in with the paleoshamanism of early, often also drug laced spiritual paths.

And here I will give my opinion rather than anything Nikolas has said himself: I believe he may have used the term shaman to describe more the transormation of Manson, used as a symbol or rebel cause by so many different ideologies, that he literally becomes, almost archetypally, a shapeshifting figure.

As for Nikolas supposedly being a nazi, that seems mostly derived from the same crowd that has also labeled him a Jew- so we can see the confusion here- the folks who eventually got angry at him for their own reasons seem to have spawned two legends about Nikolas that are almost mutually negating, so which is it- is Nikolas a showman Jew like Anton LaVey, or a nazi sympathizing revolutionary obsessed with fascism?

Really though anyone who considers him a "dirtbag" should simply speak with him rather than launch attacks at his character- how can you judge someone you have not actually met?

  10. Styx, your response is very thoughtful. Personally I am impressed with Schreck's intellect, but I believe that he is terribly misguided. I have nothing against Satanists. Freedom of religion means freedom for all religions. Where he loses me is where he believes that "Western" aka white man is superior. When someone goes there I check out; anything they say after that is lost in a puff of smoke. Sorry, man...

  11. Matt.

Yes I can understand, but if you have spoken with Nikolas you'd be surprised about his sarcastic humor- that material may very well have been his idea of hilarious satire.

I will also say: Pride in ones culture and belief that it is superior, is inherent- but that doesn't mean he is a nazi- perhaps, as with pro black or pro hispanic movements, his ideas are merely "be proud of who you are as a westerner."

I know I am proud of my western, white indentity- but this does not mean I dislike, distrust, or would want to remove status from, blacks or hispanics or whatever- Hell I voted for Obama over Mitt "Great white hope" Romney partially because of all the idiot racism in the GOP.

  12. Not that there aren't tens of millions of racial minorities that are fully western- just look at Mexico or the Phillipines.

  13. Ok, Styx. Point taken. Be well, my friend.

  14. I see Manson as a shaman as well. He fits the classical definition. I highly recommend Nick's book.

  15. A Shaman? Really? Nikolas Schreck is a psychopath as is Charles Manson. Only difference I see is that Schreck has a command of the English language that illiterate Manson does not.

But I guess that's what makes us all unique and special, eh?

  16. Charles Manson used hippies who were gentle folk who believed in peace, love and sharing with others. He saw these young impressionable people with the keen eye of a cynic and treated his girls like possessions. He rarely showed true affection. Every word he spoke was calculating and manipulative. Some Shaman…

  17. Styx really enjoyed your book review on
You Tube as soon as I Fiquere out how to

  18. Do youse guys know what a shaman even IS???

  19. A shaman is someone who interacts with Nature and Spirit on their terms, who communicates and interprets same.

  20. We are the sum total of the experiences we've had. Nikolas claims to have had shamanic experiences his entire life, I personally don't doubt he was born hypersensitive to things less mundane than the physical. His Dad was an archeologist and he would take Nikolas to Mayan pyramids and temples as a child. He writes about some of his life experiences in his books if you ever decide to look into it or to compare your own experiences against his.
