Yep Matt you are right....I sure did overlook that. I do not have an idea if Fowley and Manson were in a way connected, knowing eachother. But for what I read Fowley ,did hang around at the Parties and so Music scene he was into, also same timeframe...I was just giving a wild guess Matt. But I do have another question for ya,... I send ya
Kim has a show on Sirius Radio on the Little Steven's Underground Garage station for a few hours each weekend (tho I haven't listened to his show in several months due to a change in my schedule).
Never posted before but love the site. I'm also a Kim Fowley fan. There's definitely no way the Kim mentioned in Watkins book is Fowley. I remember reading an interview a few years ago with Kim F. where he claimed Paul McCartney met Manson at a recording session. That's the only connection I know of. Wish I could remember what that interview was from!
There's a book about the LA punk scene called We Got the Neutron Bomb. In it Fowley is mentioned as having gone to the Spahn Ranch after the arrests and saying something to the effect of "I am your new leader". I'd guess that's the extent of his connection to the Family :)
He's a character, used to call up my house and leave the craziest messages on our answering machine!
Maybe I should get a bright yellow suit for spring.
ReplyDeleteKim Fowley? Manager of The Runaways who can still be seen walking The Strip with blue hair and a cane? Damn. Patty wonders.
ReplyDeleteWhat is his connection to CM otherwise?
ReplyDeleteThe dates don't fit. Paul said Kim was 17 y.o. in 1968. Kim Fowley was born in 1939 - so he would have been 28 at the time.
ReplyDeleteBack to the drawing board...
