Ansom was friends with Charles. She wrote to him for a while, then began to visit. She was visiting him one day at the same time as T.J. Charles did his matchmaker thing. They often returned to visit with the kidz in tow. Charles taught Shani how to play chess when she was just little. There is a photo of him with two of the kids. Ansom died of breast cancer.
Matt said... I read that she died from sepsis after a dog bite.
Mr Poirot replies:
I read that too early on. Cancer killed her though. Charlie claimed he was told she is still alive and went into witness protection. Cancer got my sister at nearly the same age asv Ansom. Sepsis was not the cause of her death. It was that damn cancer thing. Got my dad too.
If you go to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hVlFQQUyV2E and FF to about 45 seconds you'll see/hear Lori explain about this - she says that when CM was on Death Row he was in cell 13, and he gave her that name (presumably for that reason, though it wasn't spelled out).
Cancer SUCKS. Took three of Pattys grandparents, her dad, and damned near her mom too. And someday Patty fully expects it will get her, too. So in the meantime, let's party like it's 1999!
Matt actually I had read this someplace how Ansom got her name ( I dont remember where however it was a while ago)~ Im not that clever ~AC would probably know for sure
So, Charlie tried to make an anagram of his name and left out an "n" then added his cell number. He wasn't lying when he said he could hardly read or write.
In "Manson Behind the Scenes" Nelson- ever the dirty old pervert tells a story about Ansom wearing no panties. Nelson claims Ansom purposely gave him a "beaver shot" and he confirmed she IS a true redhead.
Ansom is an acronym of Manson, and 13 is the cell number he was in on death row at San Q.
Charles realizes that Ansom has passed, but believes that TJ may have faked his death and is in witsec, possibly telling authorities that there were additional murders (like in comic-book-based movies... did you actually see the body?)
AC that is a very compelling and titillating piece of info. If anyone could fake his own death, TJ could. He was an ex-marine and a survivalist after all.
The photos in the Bill Nelson book are supposed to show that the crash was so bad that all that was recoverable was one of TJ's hands. If we wanna go super-conspiracy theory, it could be argued that Nellie actually conspired to help his friends (Lori too?) disappear! After all, he did love to insert himself into the story: the main Gonzo journalist on the late Manson scene.
Wow. Now Patty really wants to see that headstone... oo-EE-oo
Ansom is an acronym of Manson, and 13 is the cell number he was in on death row at San Q. thanks AC thats exactly what I thought also as I read/heard this years ago somewhere:)
At first, I scoffed at the notion that anyone could get a new identity, and disappear. I thought that was the stuff of bad spy novels. Thought the very idea was absurd.
Then Charles told me about some AB guys in his unit who'd done just that. They testified and were given new identities, and subsequently disappeared. I confirmed this with other inmates and press contacts. It is NOT made up. Sooo, if these dudes could do it, anyone else can, too.
I'm probably dreaming this, but I thought I read somewhere that Ansom 13 is a character in the Heinlein book "Stranger in a Strange Land" and that Charlie really liked the book and gave Lori the nickname for this reason. Does anyone else remember reading that??

I did a little Googling with the information above. The closest I came to Ansom 13, was finding that the books author was Robert "Anson" Heinlein and that the book had a page 13.
Did Ansom know Charlie first or TJ first? wonders how they got connected and married?
ReplyDeleteAnother redhead!
ReplyDeleteShe died from cancer, right?
ReplyDeleteShe died from cancer, right?
ReplyDeleteI was thinking that too, so it's probably right.
I read that she died from sepsis after a dog bite.
ReplyDeleteShe died of cancer. It's my daughters grandmother.
DeleteYeah there are two stories out there but it was cancer according to Bill Nelson and also "Cyn."
ReplyDeleteT.J. did alright for an old, bald guy. He was over twenty years older than Ansom.

ReplyDeleteI seem to remember that Charlie gave Ansom 13 her name. Does anyone know where he got it?
ReplyDeleteI feel sorry for Ansom13 and TJ. I think they were good folks. Their kids? I hope they made it to good homes. I think they did.

I think "Ansom 13" is some toxic industrial chemical. I remember reading about it, but now I cannot find it.
ReplyDeleteDid she think that Charlie is Jesus?
ReplyDeleteThanks Matt,
ReplyDeleteI looked it up too but, didn't find much more than a picture of an old airplane with not much of a description.

ReplyDeleteFrankM
Frank,
ReplyDeleteThank you very much.
ansom=manson cell 13 death row
ReplyDeleteAnsom isn't in the dictionary.
ReplyDeleteCandy, I like your anagram thought. If only it had six letters...
Mr P
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about your sis and dad. It got my dad too.
FrankM

ReplyDeleteMake that 1969.

ReplyDeleteansom= manson cell 13 death row
candy got it 1/2 right
ansom= manson spelled mixed-up (- an N)
and 13 for his cell #
So, Charlie tried to make an anagram of his name and left out an "n" then added his cell number. He wasn't lying when he said he could hardly read or write.

Wouldn't Ansom be too old for Nellie's taste?

Louis, "Jesus" is a fictional character.
Patty hopes y'all know she is only about 20% serious.

maybe nelson faked his own death as well.

ReplyDeleteI am just back from Bangkok, what a lot of posts I have missed. Great place but my God, the pollution, makes HK look sparkling.
ReplyDeletePoor Ansom. How old was she when she died? She looks very young. Its making me resolve to do the check for lumps thing properly.
At first, I scoffed at the notion that anyone could get a new identity, and disappear. I thought that was the stuff of bad spy novels. Thought the very idea was absurd.

People actually saw Ansom in the hospital, as she was in the final stages of cancer, so no, her death was not staged.
ReplyDeleteI feel sorrowful for all of those kids. Some were TJ's from a previous relationship.
I'm probably dreaming this, but I thought I read somewhere that Ansom 13 is a character in the Heinlein book "Stranger in a Strange Land" and that Charlie really liked the book and gave Lori the nickname for this reason. Does anyone else remember reading that??
ReplyDeleteWell, some of the ladies had read Heinlein's book to Charles, but as far as I can recall, there isn't any Ansom character in "SIASL".
