Speaking of Chuckie- I heard they were making this new book into a movie and was trying to find out info on it and i came across this... I guess it never happened cause this is like 5 years old or so.... Imagine a Manson Movie with Depp- that would bring in a new audience...
A movie project about Charles Manson refuses to die.
Johnny Depp recently turned down the offer to play the mass murderer in a film based on Ed Sanders' 1972 book, "The Family." Depp passed - but not out of concern for his "Ninth Gate" director Roman Polanski, whose wife, Sharon Tate, was among Manson's victims. The actor, who collects Manson memorabilia, says he thought the 1976 TV miniseries "Helter Skelter" deftly told the whole story. "There was no point in doing it again," he said.
But producer Don Murphy, who worked with Depp on "From Hell," isn't giving up.
"I did have several conversations with ['Buffalo 66' director and star] Vincent Gallo about playing Manson," Murphy tells us. But, he said, Gallo "is nobody anybody in Hollywood wants to work with."
Murphy, who bought songs performed by Manson for the soundtrack, thinks the part demands a brave actor. "Helter Skelter" star Steve Railsback saw his career take a nosedive after he played Manson in the miniseries.
"The film is told from the point of view of two people who join the family," says Murphy, who has also talked with Mena Suvari and Edward Furlong about other parts in the film.
Weird how they can make all these low budget crappy movies - but they cant get a movie made with major actors?
Not to get into a whole different topic, but The same thing happens with Scientology- they make a bunch of crappy movies- but when major studio tried to do it with Philip Seymour Hoffman, and Jeremy Renner- they simply say- it cant be made at this time???
Who do you think stops these things from being made??? do the old Hollywood cliques of back in the day still have some say???
I can't believe of all the major Hollywood true tragedies that have been told in the movies- no one will touch this one??
i dont get it either. i think if they realized the following the case still has maybe they would actually find someone to help out. or maybe some people dont want to open old wounds?
I think in the case of Manson old feelings are being respected, and old secrets are being kept secrets...
In Scientology people are threatened with being crushed...
The funny thing about the scientology movie is that jeremy Renner is also making the new Mission Impossible movie with Tom Cruise, and that would have made for some awkward moments on set...
This guy Murphy has produced some big movies ( Natural born killers, Transformers) so he must have some real clout too- but still it appears nothing came of it??
LOL so he went and made transformers 2 lol from telling tales of murder and mayhem in the 60's to computer animated garbage for tweens- I guess it paid a lot better!!
sometimes when they get big name actors in films its kinda dissapointing like interview with the vampire tom cruise as lestat :O Im still working on that one I never invisioned maverick from top gun as lestat still freaky to watch that shit
Yeah I agree that the Name actors themselves don't guarantee a good movie- I just hope that big names means big budget and the filming and technical aspects would be more professional and well thought out than some of the Manson efforts I have seen...

i cant picture Johnny as Manson. maybe before he did Willy Wonka but not now.

The one description of Manson that holds true is Squeaky's........."Charlie is a changeling" quote.
That is for sure!!! HE seemed to have a stylist and hairdresser on hand at all times..
